Black Boxes DECODED - What the pilots REALLY did
YouTube ^ | 03/21/2025 | Brian Murray

Every passengers worst nightmare is a plane crash, especially in the final moments of a flight. At Toronto's Lester B Pearson airport, a CRJ crashed and flipped upside down during a routine landing. We have all been waiting for answers. Was the plane broken? Were the pilots at fault? Were there other external factors? The preliminary report finally sheds some light on some of these questions.

Yes, on a provisional ticket.

I don’t know but it seems the CR aircraft knew to stop, drop, and roll when on fire! Saved lives!

Men can get that waiver too.

True, but I doubt an airline looking to diversify their pilots is giving a lot of these waivers to (white) male pilots. The truth is this woman was given preferential treatment and moved to the head of the line because of her genitalia. Qualifications and flight hour minimums exist for a reason. This pilot was able to skirt (no pun intended) one and possibly both. This airline is extremely fortunate that these waivers did not kill a plane load of people when one of their "waivered" pilots bounced their plane off the runway.

You must be older than dirt, like I am. I, too, remember getting full meals during flights, even in coach. Some actually were quite good.

A free full meal, unlimited free booze and soft drinks, free snacks, pretty stewardesses who were very sweet, flying was a pleasure, and that was coach.

In-flight cracker and water, lately.

What, no gruel? Man, things are tough.

I typically prefer the crash (if knowing it is inevitable prior to boarding the plane) occur below 10 mph before 10 seconds in to journey.

Especially when the pilot is taxiing away from the gate but has it in drive instead of reverse.

The female pilot didn’t not have the required amount of experience to be the pilot under normal rules. It sounds like she only meant the requirements under some type of DEI exception to the normal rules.

Welp, if indeed she had full control vs the left seat person, then the right seat is responsible.

Let's have a show of hands from those people who prefer to have their plane crashes at the beginning of their flight!

Well either way it would still be the final moments of their flight wouldn't it?

Minneapolis to Toronto would have been around a couple of hours flight time tops. Online calculator shows 1 h 53 min.

I’ll pick end of flight over beginning, particularly in Toronto. They seem to have a pretty good batting average with crashes on landing. And less fuel around.

The senior pilot would log his time as Second-In-Command (SIC) because he didn't need the hours. He would bear would bear no responsibility.

The senior pilot, in addition to being the Pilot Monitoring, was logging some hours for his currency. It seems his main function with the airline is to supervise the simulator checkouts.

Opinioned Conclusion: If yes, then the PIC bears responsibility too for sure.

Regulatory Fact: Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) § 91.3 Responsibility and authority of the pilot in command.

Glittering display of Blue State v. Red State black box review and analyses.
