Adolescence is undeniably one of the most visceral pieces of television of the decade, tracking a family thrown into the worst-case scenario as their son, Jamie (Owen Cooper), is arrested on suspicion of murder. The show utilizes real-time filmmaking, with each episode being one continuous take, to give a sense of unfaltering reality and immersion. This sense of authenticity makes the case feel real, and with so many crime dramas drawing from real-life events, it's easy to assume Jamie’s story is based on true events. However, the details of the story are not based on one case in particular. Instead, Adolescence is a response to the rise of knife crime in the U.K. and the dangers of the internet on young boys. Jamie may not be a real person, but the pressures he faces are all too common in society.

In any realistic representation, Jamie would be black or muslim.
Fixed it.
The show tries to show that knife crime is the result of white boys seeing misinformation and misogyny on the internet.
The show is/was #1 on NFLX, but I thought it was crap. I quit after 1.5 episodes. I was expecting a whodunnit but it’s revealed right away that the suspect did it. And then it just turns into a preachy meditation on why he did it.
"‘Adolescence’ Explores Masculinity and Male Rage With Chilling Depth"
I saw that. I still think it’s a crappy show. And the nice, studious white boy from the normal family ain’t exactly a drawn-from-reality perp in a Britain where immigrant grooming gangs are the ones doing the lion’s share of the stabbing.
The character is based on the story of a teen who was had considerably more melanin.
Kind of like a British anti-sexual harassment campaign features a young native Brit harassing darker women.
It’s just BS propaganda, that’s all.
Paul Joseph Watson put out a video about this a day or two ago - well worth viewing. Members of the UK government, including Starmer, are using this show as a talking point to discuss “toxic masculinity”... as if the real toxicity isn’t a bit more specific.
Started out interesting and the single camera shot was entertaining for a while. But by the last episode, I was just like let me fast forward this.
Hassan Sentamu is an extremely dark skinned white boy. He may even be a female if he is so inclined.
Netflix donates to left wing causes and the president election. I don’t get Netflix for this reason.
