A disgruntled United Airlines passenger punched a gate agent in the face which knocked the airport staffer to the ground, leaving him unconscious.
The violent outburst happened last Thursday evening at 5:30pm at Virginia's Dulles International Airport by gate D12 when Christopher Stuart Crittenden, a 54-year-old man from Frederick, Maryland, suddenly lost control and lashed out.
Video footage, which has since gone viral, captures the moment as Crittenden strides toward the gate agent and without warning swings his fist striking the unsuspecting employee squarely in the face.
The force of the impact was so severe the agent instantly fell to floor.
As the short four second clip suddenly ended bystanders were heard gasping in horror.
Officers from the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority quickly arrested Crittenden and charged him with assault and disorderly conduct.
The injured gate agent was left badly shaken and taken to a local hospital, where he received treatment for his injuries.
Officials have not explained was triggered Crittenden's outburst but other passengers who witnessed what happened say it all began with a canceled flight.

Son, in an actual civilization, nothing said by the gate agent would justify that action. The employee was doing his job according to the rules. The attacker imagines himself as above airline corporate management and certainly that employee.
Airports can indeed be very frustrating these days - overcrowded, long security lines, passengers herded like cattle, being made to take off your shoes, be scanned and patted down, your personal items being rifled through. And that’s before you get to the filthy, overcrowded planes with little room in each seat. Flying these days is a miserable experience.
There does seem to be a lot of these outbursts and even fights lately in the airport and on the planes themselves - there was one yesterday on a flight.
We’re a long way from when there was a sense of decorum and order in airports and on flights. I remember being made to dress up like we were going to church if we were flying anywhere.
I’d give up flying altogether if I didn’t have family on the other side of the counrty.
“Who knows what the gate clown said andtried to stop the guy for...”
I have a feeling you are correct. These workers can be jerks.
