Caleb McCarty went from hero to zero within seconds. The South Carolina State forward committed a brutal blunder late in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament final against top-seeded Norfolk State, costing his team a potential shot at an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
With second-seeded SC State trailing 65-63, McCarty capitalized on a Norfolk State turnover on an inbounds pass, scoring a layup to tie the game at 65 with 10.6 seconds left.
It gave Ings two free throws as a complete gift. He subsequently hit one of the two, giving Norfolk State a 66-65 lead with 8.9 seconds left.

This is an example of why situational awareness is so important in sports.
Situational awareness. A year ago the 49ers QB saw the defense and the play clock. The play clock was almost expired, so he signaled to the backup Tight End not to go in motion, which he was supposed to on that play. If he had gone in motion, delay of game, and no 40 yard touchdown.
Is it them Yogi?
“Jaw-dropping blunder”
Kamala Harris?

Journalistic hyperbole and misinformation. Opinion masking as news.
Ghetto Rules. Runners getting spiked or simply bumped off of the track by larger runners.
But McCarty seemingly didn’t know the score, as he then chased down Christian Ings to foul him after Norfolk State inbounded the ball.
My jaw did actually drop! The announcers were stunned as well, but offered their sympathies. Poor kid.
Okay, the blunder is you try to foul the opposing team when you are down.
What?
How did him tying the game with ten seconds left cost his team the game? How did Ings two free throws come about? This POS excerpt makes no sense.
Apparently, Nick Carroway totally botched his excerpt and left out key information.
I mean, TIED?
IQ
IQ matters.
Going to be a very short tournament for Norfolk State.....Go Gators!
