Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov urged the United States to cease strikes against Yemen’s Houthis, the foreign ministry said on Sunday.

Lavrov spoke to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio by telephone, the ministry said.

“In response to the American representative’s arguments, Sergey Lavrov stressed the need for an immediate cessation of the use of force and the importance for all sides to engage in political dialogue in order to find a solution that would prevent further bloodshed,” the ministry said.

“Name one.”

https://thehedgefundjournal.com/shipping-investments/
Leading the way are the US investment firms which last year invested in over 75 vessels, partnered with a number of private shipping companies, purchased significant amounts of debt from traditional shipping banks and participated in the five US shipping-related IPOs. Most insiders agree that 2014 will see even more activity from investment firms. This sentiment was voiced at many shipping conferences last year:

“There have been billions of dollars in equity flowing into the industry, and the scary thing is that the reported number is not all of it. A lot of private placements don’t show up on anyone’s league table.”
– Chris Weyers, head of maritime investment banking at Stifel Financial

Just laying out the realities of ownership. Which the article does. The Houthis are shooting at whatever takes their fancy and for the reasons of, shall we say, “collective ownership”, not just of hulls or cargoes but of interest in marine insurance (yet another kettle of fish), there can be said to be a degree of US ownership, or financial interest, in just about any vessel in those waters.

No they aren't. They're targeting certain vessels based on ownership and destination.

For example, Chinese ships are not targeted.

Now either name the American owned vessel(s) they targeted or admit your prevaricating.

Are you of the opinion that the US Military is responsible for all western shipping transiting the Middle East?

How about Africa, does the US have a responsibility there as well?

To be fair there was no full diplomatic effort to normalize relations. Lots of people complain about the optics of the “pallets of cash”, but in reality this was Iranian money (and interest proceeds) that the US effectively stole from them by way of sanctions freezes.

They have sunk, so far, a (nominally) British-owned ship and a Greek registered ship. Others attacked included Singapore registered ships owned (or leased) by Maersk (Denmark), an ostensibly Indian-owned Liberian registered ship. The Houthis still seem to hold the “Galaxy Leader”, Bahamian Registered, Japan-Operated, with Israeli co-owners (plus a consortium).

Seems to me they are at war with the whole world as far as their attempts at blocking Red Sea transit.

There was an international response to the Houthi Red Sea attacks, including British, Indian, French, Pakistani, Danish, German, Greek naval vessels (and thats not the full list), all listed as escorting or defending merchant vessels.

The US has long since taken on itself the responsibility of guaranteeing maritime trade. That’s part of the Pax Americana.

"I don’t know about the Houthis"

It's a measure of one's civility not to murder indiscriminately, as the houthis
are prone to do.

Iran's government supporting houthi thugs put them in the same category.

USA is intimately connected with the Red Sea. Much of the world’s oil transits there. Sunk tankers and strait avoidance raise the price of gas at our gas pumps.

Russia > Iran > Hamas

Add China and N. Korea to the alliances. With "friends" like these, who needs enemies? Meanwhile, western Europe is overall ideological Left, which is suicidal, but at least they are not military threats.
