As a powerful storm takes shape just east of the Rockies by the middle of the week, AccuWeather meteorologists are forecasting a vast eruption of severe weather, including the potential for tornadoes, Friday and Saturday in the zone from the Great Plains to the Mississippi Valley.
Should the storm develop to its full potential, it could be one of the strongest on record for the region in terms of low pressure. The more intense the storm, the greater the amount of energy will be available for severe weather, rain, snow and winds in general.
Even a more moderate, typical storm for the middle of March will produce a significant, large, multiple-day severe weather threat that includes the risk of tornadoes.

I wonder what they named this “large severe weather outbreak.”
They clearly root for extreme weather so thy can get more attention by talking about it. Notice whenever there’s a hurricane, they always hope for the next higher category level.
“I am beginning to think these meteorologists get off on these severe weather predictions”
Maybe.
But this is a big one.
A strong low pressure system that will move in and spin up blizzards on one side and severe weather on the other side.
It’s good the weather people can see these systems when they are as far away as the Bering Sea.
I’m amazed they can see that and tell us we will have storms a week late in the Midwest.
The sky is still falling!!! /sarc

“magnum weather outbreak”....sounds more professional than “rainy and windy”...
“Large severe weather outbreak looms for central US”... In the past we just called it the ‘weather’.... Now it’s always ‘severe’, or ‘a polar vortex’, or ‘catastrophic’, or ‘an atmospheric river’, or ‘a Bomb Cyclone’
We need to insist EVERY time a TV meteorologists reports a new ‘record breaking’ high - that they also report any ‘record breaking lows’... and yes, those happen too.
In other words ... it’s SPRINGTIME!
The calendar says March. It happens every year.
“And only Communism and higher taxes will prevent it!!1!” - the global warming true believers.
Whatever happens, we can be sure it’ll be Trump’s fault.
Severe weather outbreak looms for central US late week.
The weather bombardment starts Thursday, targeting citizens and infrastructure as it strafes land based sites on the east coast. Some of the victims will be impacted by torrential rain attacks, strafing population centers like a barrage of artillery.
cripes...i’m approx 40 miles west of chicago...next 8 days mostly in 50s-60s with a 70s on Friday.
National Weather Service does not have such alarms up.
This is into the normal stormy weather season in central US.
Yes, but I am gob smacked at 3 key omissions from the article:
The terms “climate change,”, “warming” and “extreme” related to weather.
Maybe they got the POTUS memo to “KNOCK IT OFF!”
(I see nothing wrong with a “severe weather alert.” Actually, it grabs me as quite normal...a throwback to pre-algore/mann fraud.)
That stated, clearly the author of the post - “Alex” (ahem) - is experiencing a bit of ‘jonesing’ with the phrase, “...forecasting a vast eruption of severe weather...”
“Trumpstorm”
Considering the damage done by tornadoes, they need to watch these things.
They don’t *get off* on severe weather and I doubt for a minute they are the ones naming the storms.
They need to forecast what they think if likely to happen, and yet warn about the worst potential outcome, just in case.
If the meteorologists knew it and didn’t warn about it, they’d be castigated for not letting people know.
They’re damned if they do and damned if they don’t.
Basically what’s going on with people who say they don’t buy into the fear porn or care what happens, and yet they feel the need to stroke their own egos with mockery and derision directed towards those they have contempt for who are interested in knowing what’s forecast.
All the critics of how weather forecasting is done are free to go get a meteorology degree and show everyone how to do it better.
The calendar says March. It happens every year.
Unfortunately, half of the country ... the dolts ... don’t realize this and will believe in this weather-fear nonsense.
