Ugliest damn car of that entire era. Sounded decent but ... just UUUUUUG-lee.

As a 17 year old back in the day I detailed cars at a very cool used car lot. Always had several muscle cars in inventory. Got to drive some around and was even allowed to drive some home overnight from time to time. At one time we had a Javelin AMX. It was my favorite.

My dad had a bright yellow ‘71 Javelin when I was in high school in the mid ‘70s. Cool looking car that was fun to drive.

I'll always remember them like this.

I went to look at one with my dad in 1971, but he was adamant about not getting it. I ended up in a Nova instead. Life would have taken whole different path if I had gotten it, assuming I lived through the experience.

Have you ever driven an AMX? They are really quite a good performer and they handle well for a late 60’s car. I have driven one a few times and I would love to own one.

The Javelin ugly? Compared to this later AMC car (the 1975 Pacer) the Javelin was a beauty queen.

Some cars just have to be relegated to the Dustbin of History.

My brother had a Javelin (not sure of the year) in the late ‘80s.
He ended up wrapping it around a telephone pole.

I trust that it is true. I’m not a car afficionado. I wasn’t intending a negative on the car. It just looks like a pinto car to me. The body shape looks the same to me.

I trust that it was a great car and I wasn’t intending to slag it. It just has the same general bodyshape as a pinto.
