If you're looking at a Hi-Point JHP 45, look at the Gen 2 version that they released relatively recently. There are few changes, with the most significant being a threaded barrel.

...very reliable, inexpensive, lifetime guaranteed .45 ACP, able to add a suppressor, and rated for .45 +P ammunition.

No, I don't get paid to endorse them but yes, if I lived in a non-Communist state, I'd already have two of them. Dual wielding is real.

What is the first rule of gun safety?

Always treat it as if it were loaded. (because it should be)

.44 Mags are easy to come by. .41s, not so much.

It’s a great caliber.

Another option is .45 Colt. You can load them way hot if you have a Ruger revolver.

“My county went 69% for Trump...”

Excellent, that’s probably about as good as it gets. There’s a pleasing noticeable difference in such places.

AW HELL!. I was staying at a hotel in Harlingen TX close to the Mexican border for work. A very large drunk mexican man started banging on my door telling me to get out because he was going to kill me for sleeping with his wife. I hollared out the door that he had the wrong room. After about 10 minutes of that, I pulled the curtain back and tapped the glass with the business end of a .357 mag. He decided that he had to leave at that point. I never had to fire a shot, but it saved my life that night.

1. Always treat a weapon as if it is loaded.
2. Never point a weapon at anything unless you intend to kill it.
3. Cleaning a weapon starts with unloading a weapon.
4. Never forget 1-3.

0. If anyone is handing you a weapon, always ask, where is the safety, and is it on? If they don’t know, or it doesn’t even have a safety, strongly consider not accepting it from them. Any gun without a safety is a high risk item, even in the hands of an experienced gun user, because life if full of little surprises.
