It is no understatement to say that this was, for Zelensky coming here today, the most critical diplomatic and political moment for him and his country since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine three years ago.
This has descended into an extraordinary and unprecedented moment of tension, exploding in the Oval Office.
Basically, a public dressing down of the Ukrainian leader by Donald Trump and Vice-President JD Vance
It began by Vance saying to Zelensky that the war had to be ended through diplomacy.
What kind of diplomacy, Zelensky replied.
He was then accused by the vice-president of being disrespectful.
This then escalated very quickly in those remarkable pictures you have just seen and heard.
Trump and Vance accused Zelensky of being ungrateful for three years of American support, telling him he was in no position to tell the US how it should feel about it.

I loved watching Trump and Vance acting in tandem for team USA!
If we have business there, that, alone, would curb Russian take over.
JD may be the best attack dog in history.
My understanding is that Ukraine was going to sign over some very valuable mineral rights. If that is the case, then they're not "begging", but rather "trading". So, asking exactly what they were going to get in return for those mineral rights seema reasonable to me.
Now, if mineral rights were not part of the discussion, then that's different.
Because every now and then, the lion has to show the hyenas exactly who he is.
Wonderful!
“Fox News just shoed Z being put into a limo and driven away.
Said Z was begging Trump to let him stay, and try and work something out.
FAFO, Z.”
I would have told the Ukrainian con man to forget the limos, call for an Uber with a Russian driver.
well, today certainly demonstrates the old saw: ‘you give an idiot enough rope and he’ll talk himself into a hanging.’
good grief.
We can't know that without knowing exactly what was being discussed, where it is located in Ukraine, etc..
I mean, suppose the deal amounted to Ukraine giving up all these mineral rights, and Russia still gets to keep all the territory it occupies. At that point, Ukraine has to ask whether or not it is worth it.
I don't know the particulars of the deal, which is why I raised the issue.
Z just learned a life lesson. Never come into someone else’s house and insult the owner.
You don't go into the Oval Office and act like it's your room. Trump is making Zelensky stew on it for awhile, hoping he comes back with a more contrite attitude.
Now the question is whether or not Bret Baier will still have his interview with Zelensky later today? Perhaps Zelensky will use the opportunity to walk back some of his intransigence from this afternoon in the hopes of a second chance to meet with President Trump?

Or will Z use Bret to get the last word?
Z had fun, fun, fun but now daddy’s taking the T-Bird away.
Sure, they're going to have to eat a sh*t sandwich, but this has gone on for 3 years. It's not going to get better, and without the US, they have no chance of changing the outcome in their favor.
Did Zelensky really think he could beat Trump in negotiations?
Comer is as bad as Jeff Jordan and worse than Trey Gowdy.
Yap, yap, investigate, yap, yap.
“If we have business there, that, alone, would curb Russian take over.”
That’s a wonderful reason for us NOT to be there. We would be stuck with that Ukrainian tar baby forever. Not to mention we are trying to root out corruption in DC, so the last thing we need is for DC to be paired up with them again.
It would be like pairing a recovering alcoholic with the town drunk.
Not to mention, someday, a democrat will be in office again.
We do a mineral deal and blackrock, and every scion of the DC party will flood in and feast. Pelosi, Romney, Hunter, etc.
Contrast him with Kamala
FBI ignoring orders from the AG. Generals refusing Trump’s orders or resisting them. Federal judges blocking his every move. Republicans slow walking his nominees.
This is what emboldens guys like Zelinsky.
You may have missed that America's investment has already occurred. The prior administration just gave billions in money and materiel with no strings attached. President Trump is trying to get something for America for our investment.
