Kash Patel: reshaping the FBI
American Thinker ^ | 27 Feb, 2025 | Yassin Fawaz

Patel’s appointment is not just a win for Trump supporters—it is a victory for anyone who believes in the need for accountability and reform in government institutions.

“I know that you, the dedicated men and women of the FBI, are courageous warriors of justice. I will always have your backs, because you have the backs of the American people. I look forward to serving with you in the years to come.”

These powerful words from Kash Patel’s message to the FBI workforce set the tone for his leadership as the newly confirmed FBI Director. While his words conveyed a promise of unity and transparency, the early actions of his tenure suggest a director ready to make bold and decisive changes, regardless of the political cost.

Patel’s confirmation, secured by a 51-49 vote in February 2025, marks a significant moment. For many, it represents a much-needed correction to an FBI that has been criticized for its politicization, its perceived bias, and its failure to fully serve the American people. As a staunch ally of President Donald Trump, Patel’s leadership promises to usher in a new era of reform—one focused on restoring integrity to the FBI while dismantling the entrenched power structures that have contributed to the Bureau’s fractured reputation.

The Case for Kash Patel

Patel’s career trajectory is emblematic of his worldview: an outsider challenging the establishment. A former federal prosecutor and defense lawyer, he gained national prominence in 2017 as a senior counsel for the House Intelligence Committee, where he played a key role in investigating the FBI’s handling of the Trump-Russia probe. His unyielding approach to exposing what he saw as flaws within the FBI led him to become a key Trump ally, and his role in pushing for declassification efforts reinforced his reputation as someone who champions transparency

I am guessing that most of the lawfare evidence has been destroyed.

Along with America’s trust. I understand that Kash’s words have to be said, but I don’t feel that the FBI has my back.

I need to see everyone at The FBI involved in The Jan. 6th entrapment operation crackdowns from the managers on down to the door kickers FIRED! I don’t care if it is 5,000 agents. FIRED! Don’t forget about Mar-a-Largo. Even then they should permanently lose their ability to police this nation forever.

Elon’s cadre of boy genuses should be able to dig into the FBI and CIA servers and extract enough to hang half of those traitors. If Comey was as smart as he thinks he is he would already be hiding in a country without an extradition agreement with the U.S. I would bet he already has looked into it.

“I am guessing that most of the lawfare evidence has been destroyed.”

Lack of evidence never got in the way for Trump’s impeachment and NY prosecution.

. . .I don’t feel that the FBI has my back.

There is no doubt that the worst rot was at the top, but anyone who took part in the Mar-a-Lago raid, or the Brian Manlinowski raid (ATF, not FBI, but the same problem) or (representative of the problem) Waco or Ruby Ridge has betrayed their oath to the Constitution.

"Just following orders" has never been a valid excuse. Anyone who approved those sorts of raids, anyone who ordered others to go, anyone who went on the raids . . . they all have to go.

You are right, of course. But I expect rot to be ever-present.

I have always been for “law and order” and a lawful person, but I despise “unions” and thuggery. Law Enforcement, to me, attracts the wrong kind of people. Many have been in my family.

I think that the answer to “rot” is turn-over. America usually implements turn-over at the top, trying to give accountability to the voter. Perhaps this is not enough.

I would like to see tax-payer paychecks limited to 10 years for recipients. This would mean turn-over from top to bottom. No unions in government. If you think you need protection from the people, you’re in the wrong line of work.

I would imagine they have tried, but the thing is completely destroying data….. is not as easy as “wiping it with a cloth”.

Like deleting a comment on X, by the time you do that there are many copies of it elsewhere.

Forensic investigators can find an t lot of what has been “deleted”.

I can only hope

“I don’t feel that the FBI has my back.”

More like a knife in my back. Praying Kash and Dan will fumigate the place.

Read somewhere that there has been a surge in “non extradition “ countries searches, along with huge new listings for homes for sale around DC.😎

That stood out to me too.
Maybe would have been better had he said he would have their backs AS they have the backs of US Citizens?

If the FBI no longer has it, the NSA would. If it’s electronic comms, they hoover it up.

Now, this is a pure conjecture but wondering if in the last few years, white hat folks started collecting information and squirreling it away, or put in a separate surveillance system for IT systems, hoping to catch folks trying to cover tracks?

Law Enforcement, to me, attracts the wrong kind of people.

Everyone knows of exceptions who are competent, compassionate, and truly trying to serve others. But there is a terrible tendency for people to seek that power over others for bad reasons - which equates to bad people seek that power. See Friedrich Hayek's "Road to Serfdom."

I would like to see tax-payer paychecks limited to 10 years for recipients.

I think I would make an exception for those serving in the Armed Forces, but other than that, absolutely. I presume you mean a lifetime limit, which would be necessary to achieve what you (we) want. Those who wallow in the public trough should know that, in a few years at most, they are going to be on the other side of that dynamic.

I've advocated for a long time that no elected official should be elected to a position (or equivalent) more than twice (like the President). Even then you could just about have a 'career' in Congress/President (24 years, plus non-federal positions), but there would at least be some turnover.

FBI can’t be reshaped. Changing the drapes in the director’s office is about as far as Kash will have any influence. They consider themselves independent of any administration with which they disagree.
