James Bond to be 'overseen by woke Amazon executives' with zero Hollywood experience

The James Bond film franchise, a British institution, is now creatively "under threat of woke Amazon executives with zero Hollywood experience", according to an insider.

Yesterday, Hollywood was struck with the bombshell news that EON Productions made a new deal where their creative control of the James Bond film franchise now goes to Amazon MGM Studios.

For over 60 years, the British-American Broccoli family has maintained a non-compromising oversight over the much-cherished 007 movies, which they treated like a luxury brand.

Following rumours of internal clashes over the future of the next Bond, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson are getting out. However, they will still receive credit and a cut of 007 going forward.

The casting, script, director, and everything else for the reboot are now in the hands of Jeff Bezos’s mammoth company, which purchased MGM Studios for $8.5 billion a couple of years ago.

Daniel Craig exploded out of the franchise in 2021’s No Time To Die, and with Amazon referring to the British institution as ‘content’ behind the scenes, many fear that Ian Fleming’s spy is well and truly dead.

As with George Lucas selling Star Wars to Disney, dedicated Bond fans are petrified that quality control of 007 will go out the window in favour of churning out lacklustre spin-offs. Bezos’ recent social media polling of fans on who should replace Craig is enough to make any Brit cringe. And given the backlash to what many perceived as woke narrative elements in recent Star Wars series The Acolyte (which was cancelled) and Amazon’s Lord of the Rings TV show, are we about to witness the same happen to Bond? According to a Hollywood insider, it’s certainly looking that way.

Amazon belongs to Bezos and he has been doing some strangely conservative things lately.

Doubt he cares about 007.

as long as the the new bad guy looks like Bezos and he is in a bad helicopter crash while with his plastic girlfriend and Kathleen Kennedy while the traditional Male English Bond escapes and Bond girl Gina Carano escape I will be possibly ok with it.

The last two Bond movies were pretty much crap anyway, so I don’t have any expectations for anything better.

DEI Another Day

Live and Let DEI

Octopeeny

Soyfall

Johnsons Galore

The Living Gaylights

Bottom, James Bottom

This franchise IP will be dead. Anything that is not a British agent who kills enemies, screws women, does spy stuff and drinks martinis is a fraud.

Daniel Craig's movies were all terrible except for Casino Royale.

To be fair, it wasn't completely his fault. Casino Royale was based on the book by Ian Fleming.

Other movies were written by hacks in Hollyweird. The talent is not what it used to be. They can't write a script nowadays.

They're woke. And dumbed down.

The Bond movie series hasn’t been in control of the auther Iam Flemming, the last being Man with the Golden Gun, since the book was published in 1965 movie made in 1967 after Fleming died. After that the series was written by a number of of different writers with the first American writer in 1999, Ray Benson. But there were far more book than those that were made into movies.

But the real problem was that the franchise changed with the times and people runjing the show. In a controversial move in 2023, the James Bond novels were rewritten to remove references deemed offensive following a sensitivity review commissioned by the company. Some depictions of Black people were removed, while a reference to the “sweet tang of rape,” a description of homosexuality as a “disability,” and mockery of East Asian people were allowed to remain.

The opening sequence to Spectre was a pretty impressive piece of filmmaking. It was the longest, most elaborate, and (I think) most expensive opening sequence of any Bond film.

True. The rest of the movie was pretty boilerplate dull trope, so I totally forgot about the opening sequence.

Obviously, it should go to a fat, lesbian, POC. Preferably trans.

CBS has already blazed a lot of that path for Amazon by rebooting The Equalizer in 2021 and going from Edward Woodward's sophisticated British Robert McCall of the mid 80s original to Queen Latifah's Robyn McCall.

The gathering of evil world leaders in Spectre seemed lifted from Eyes Wide Shut.

The franchise should follow Fleming’s books to the T.
Anything else is not Bond.

Fleming's Bond was nondescript, not someone you would remember from a crowd. I've read that Fleming imagined Bond as looking like Hoagy Carmichael.

“Besides, Sean Connery was the only decent Bond.”

Snoby rubbish. Roger Moore was perfectly fine.
The plots and special effects in his films were way better than in Connery’s. They even save the day with mediocre actors like Pierce Brosnan.
A Bond film is not only about Bond. Scenario, production, even music and of course the girls are all part of the magic.

I don’t know if he had to imagine much.
I think he worked with the guy during Ww2 and based his character off him. Could of been Christopher Creighton.
