Trump Won Because Voters Are Ignorant, Literally
Foreign Policy ^ | 11/10/16 | Jason Brennan

OK, so that just happened. Donald Trump always enjoyed massive support from uneducated, low-information white people. As Bloomberg Politics reported back in August, Hillary Clinton was enjoying a giant 25 percentage-point lead among college-educated voters going into the election. (Whether that trend held up remains to be seen.) In contrast, in the 2012 election, college-educated voters just barely favored Barack Obama over Mitt Romney. Last night we saw something historic: the dance of the dunces. Never have educated voters so uniformly rejected a candidate. But never before have the lesser-educated so uniformly supported a candidate. Trump supporters might retort: “That’s because Trump supports the little guy and Clinton helps the already privileged college grads.” But that’s false: Trump supporters in the primaries had an average income of about $72,000 per year. They aren’t rich, but make more than the national average and more than Clinton supporters.

I know from over 8 years ago, but these beltway DC beltway elite democrat liberals still think the same way, except they are losing their jobs now.

Charlie Kirk had a lovely guest on the other day talking about how the “Right” has a genuine intellectual component, respect for philosophical traditions. That many so-called ‘working class’ folk are actually far better-read and cultured than those who look down on them.

Because a lot of university education curriculums of the past generation have been dumbed down indoctrination.

Going to college isn’t an education.

The author is a moron.

This is a surefire way to get back into the hearts of the electorate: insult the voters! Keep doing it, lefties!

Less educated often just means less brainwashed.

An oldie but a goodie.

Trump supporters in the primaries had an average income of about $72,000 per year. They aren’t rich, but make more than the national average and more than Clinton supporters.

So Trump supporters are uneducated hicks, yet they make more money than Hillary's highly educated coffee baristas?

Sounds like someone is ignorant about the market value of skills and labor, and it's not Trump supporters.

Really, I see nothing surprising about the fact that college educated class wants to grow the size of the government - it’s where they get their jobs, mostly at least. It’s in their class interest to do so. They’re Marxists so one might expect them to be capable of doing a bit of Marxist class analysis, but apparently not. Or perhaps those with college degrees don’t see themselves as a class with their own unique interests.

Typical biased, arrogant, condescending liberal philosopher who talks down to others because he believes other people are beneath him, and that he’s smarter than everyone else. What an idiot.

Is this guy really that dense? Trump supports the little guy through his policies. Who donated to his campaign and how much they earn are separate questions.

If this is what an education buys, then being uneducated is a badge of honor.

You mean the same college educated people who can’t figure how to pay their student loans back.

Less degreed doesn't necessarily mean less educated.

People, even adults, can still home school themselves.

The title is hilarious, because the word “literally” is the complement of the word “figuratively”. When you say you “literally crushed that test”, it means you took the paper the test was written on and crumpled it, making it smaller. You “figuratively” crush a test when you do very well on the test. When someone figuratively “eats crow” it means they admit they were wrong. When you literally “eat crow” you are putting the bird in your mouth and swallowing it. The author says Trump voters are “literally” ignorant. But there is no way to be “figuratively” ignorant any more than there is a way for an apple to be “figuratively” red. The word “literally” in this title adds no additional meaning, and hence makes the sentence verbose, it is a flawed sentence. Anyone who writes like this is - you guessed it - IGNORANT.
