I was shopping for a 5G backup for home internet service. No one offers it here despite being in an area known for its tech employers (occasional McLarens, Ferraris, and lots of Teslas spotted in the area).

LOL...same down here in Silicon Valley. All those exotic cars, tens of thousands of Teslas (worst, most aggressive drivers in the world), $5 million old ranch houses, and crappy cell service.

I have Verizon's Orbic 5G device as backup for my house. It shares the data plan with our 2 Samsung Galaxy phones. The house runs on a 1 Gbps symmetric fiber connected to the house network with CAT6 that I installed while awaiting the fiber connection. Google just added another fiber box next to my current connection. It has 8 Gbps speed. No rush to do that because my wiring and network interfaces are built for 1 Gbps. One of the motherboards has a 2.5 Gbps interface that falls back to 1 Gbps.
I've had ONE outage of 12 hours caused by a fiber break 100 yards from my front door. The Orbic covered the gap with enough bandwidth to have a simple workday.
