The Holy See Press Office provided the following medical update on Pope Francis on Sunday evening:
The condition of the Holy Father remains critical, but since yesterday evening, he has not experienced any further respiratory crises.
He received two units of concentrated red blood cells with beneficial effects, and his hemoglobin levels have risen.
The thrombocytopenia remains stable; however, some blood tests show early, mild renal insufficiency, which is currently under control.
High-flow oxygen therapy continues through nasal cannulas.
The Holy Father remains alert and well-oriented.
The complexity of the clinical situation and the necessary time for the pharmacological treatments to show results require that the prognosis remain guarded.
This morning, in the apartment on the tenth floor, he participated in the Holy Mass, together with those who have been taking care of him during these days of hospitalization.
Pachamama bless him and keep him.
Marxistisotosis I would imagine
It’s just been reported that he’s in kidney failure……sepsis.
He’s on his way out.
He’s dead, Jim
I’m no fan of Pope Francis. I’m not 100% convinced, but I have a strong tendency to believe that he is an antipope, either because Benedict XVI’s resignation was invalid (made without full freedom, or made only partially), or because he has lost the papacy due to heresy and apostacy. But I’m not 100% sure.
Nevertheless, I pray for him, because he’s gonna need it one way or the other. Our Lord has commanded us to pray for our enemies, and to do good to them. I will say this... as I’ve learned to pray for my enemies over the years (one in particular, but others, too), I have found that it’s really hard to remain angry at them. I think this is one of the reasons Our Lord gave us this command... because of its healing effect on us, as well as the benefit it gives to our enemy.
We must pray for the conversion of all sinners. And whatever we can say about Francis’ legacy, we know he’s a sinner because we all are. It looks like he’s not long for this world. His time is short. We do not have the right to refuse him our prayers and sacrifices.
Do you have any thoughts on who you would like to see elected to succeed him? Or any predictions that are in the realm of possibility?
I agree. Praying for him is the best thing to do.
Update, now a “slight” kidney issue...
Another update...

FNC is reporting “early kidney failure”.
Technically, looks like the above is FOX, not FNC...
Okaaaay...
Personally, I think it is time for the cardinals to elect a non-cardinal. I have several bishops in mind I’d be very happy to see elected, however unlikely. But I’m sure there are others. Perhaps even a simple priest.
I’d be happy with any of the following:
Cardinal Sarah
Cardinal Burke
Cardinal Muller
Cardinal Eijk
Cardinal Albert Malcom Ranjith Don
Bishop Joseph Strickland
Archbishop Cordileone
Bishop Athanasius Schneider
Bishop Bernard Fellay
I would not be despondent if Bishop Steven Lopes was elected.
Looks like Satan will have to wait a little longer for Commie Frankie.
Archbishop Vigano is a true Holy Father. As is Bishop Strickland. They both have concern for us - the sheep.
Yes, I meant to add Archbishop Vigano. Unlikely, given that Francis excommunicated him, and I don’t know how that would work, given that the pope obviously has to be Catholic. From a canon law perspective, are excommunicated persons considered to be Catholic? I know it’s kind of immaterial from God’s perspective. I mean there are saints who were excommunicated.
Let’s hope and pray Satan never gets him.
I think they are still Catholic. (Those baptized Catholic are Catholic for life.). I think it means he can’t receive the Sacraments. But if Bergolio was falsely installed, or not the Pope due to heresy, then the Excommunication might be null and void. Just like the pardons from the Potato.
I think the only person on your list who has a realistic shot is Eijk. Two others who are in the running are Erdo of Hungary and Pizzaballa of Jerusalem.
If Vigano were elected, he could rescind his excommunication with the stroke of a pen.
I agree with you about Eijk. You might want to look at https://collegeofcardinalsreport.com/where-they-stand/. It has excellent information on the cardinals, identifying them by their stands on all the key issues.
