I fall into the same category. One of the reasons I enjoy retirement is I no longer have to interact with academics.
I was just taking potshots at the guys at Stanford

When I was a professor and university administrator, I had wonderful academics (mainly biologists and engineers) to interact with!
And when I was an MIT undergraduate, I had wonderful humanities profs who taught me how to write!
Our great universities need to study their histories, and learn from them!

“ahistoricism” essentially means beleif in fake, or false, history.
Usually an 'a' in front of a word means 'not' or 'without' or similar. So ahistory, I would say, doesn't mean 'fake' but means to just ignore history.

Say isn’t Stanford University in the state of CaliFUBAR? Possilbly the only good thing about Stanford in terms of politics or history is that it still allows the existence of the Hoover Institution on its campus. Condoleezza Rice is one of its directors, and several of its Fellows are Thomas Sowell, Victor Davis Hanson, Niall Ferguson and Milton Friedman, among many others. Reagan, Thatcher, Solzhenitsyn, and Hayek are Honorary Fellows.

I once ran a “Grad and Professionals” ping list on FR, during Trump’s 2015 campaign when the left were calling everyone in MAGA stupid, but it was lost in a computer crash. I often think of resurrecting it. Now we have Musk and many smart billionaires besides Donals as figureheads.
