Top Biden advisor says party 'lost its mind' after debate: 'It melted down'

A top advisor to former President Joe Biden said the Democratic Party "melted down" after his poor performance in the June 2024 debate against President Donald Trump and insisted Biden should have remained the party's candidate.

Biden's rough performance and weak voice at the CNN Presidential Debate sparked immense fear about his re-election odds, and the left's top leaders called on him to withdraw from the race.

Biden was replaced as the Democratic candidate by Vice President Kamala Harris less than a month later on July 21. She lost to Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

"Now, lots of people have terrible debates," former Biden senior advisor Mike Donilon said during a discussion at Harvard University. "Lots of people have terrible debates. Usually the party doesn't lose its mind, but that's what happened here. It melted down."

CNN and the BBC ran headlines calling the performance "disastrous" and "incoherent."

"If Joe Biden loses November’s election, history will record that it took just 10 minutes to destroy a presidency," CNN senior reporter Stephen Collinson wrote in an article. "It was clear a political disaster was about to unfold as soon as the 81-year-old commander in chief stiffly shuffled on stage in Atlanta."

Collinson went on to describe Biden giving the weakest performance in televised debate history.

New York Times columnist and Biden supporter Thomas Friedman wrote the debate made him "weep" and called on Biden to step aside.

"I cannot remember a more heartbreaking moment in American presidential campaign politics in my lifetime — precisely because of what it revealed: Joe Biden, a good man and a good president, has no business running for re-election," Friedman wrote.

One of the more iconic ironic moronic headlines I can recall at the moment.

Biden was NOT a good man. He was a criminal and his WHOLE family are criminals. If not, why pre-emptive pardons??? Arrest that man too and put him in prison.

Pedo Joes “performance” was easy to predict. I watched that debate 100% assured of the entertainment value. It was like getting ready to watch my favorite comedy movie…Naked Gun.

They made a mess of it. Of course he had to go. But on the way out he laid an egg.
They should have worked it out before he delivered that endorsement of Kamala Harris.

He wasn’t fit for office in 2016.

Why the highly educated and comparatively wealthy would want these stupid people at the helm is perplexing.

+++++++++++

Don’t confuse highly educated with intelligence.

The point not mentioned is Biden took a week off to prepare for the debate. It should have been obvious to his handlers that Biden was incapable. Choosing Harris was Biden’s FU to his party.

The entire left believed that Biden was perfectly fit.

*********************

I read the democrat message boards all the time. Going into the debate, many thought Joe was going to thrash a “dementia ridden” Trump.

These are not astute people with good awareness skills, they’re puppets easily influenced by propaganda.

The most Harris signs I saw last year was in a Far North Dallas neighborhood with homes north of $1 million. I saw fewer in minority neighborhoods and virtually none in lower income white areas. In the space of three decades, from Bill Clinton onward, the Democrats became the party of the elite and the Republicans the party of the working man. Politicians like Joe Manchin became fossils as did Mitt Romney, as both parties drifted away from centrism.

“Top Biden advisor says party ‘lost its mind’ after debate”

It wasn’t the party losing its mind after the debate, it was the party realizing that their candidate had lost his mind* after the debate.

*technically that didn’t happen (they always knew, from at least 2019), but rather they had to come to terms that they could no longer hide Biden’s decline from the voters.

Biden was their last bridge to the white male working class. Democrats seemed relieved he was out of the way so they didn’t have to waste any more time appealing to a demographic the rest of the party hated.

“Interesting that Kamala...performed better...among college educated and those making over 100k.”

It is an interesting phenomena. To their way of thinking, of course, it merely proves that smart, educated people vote Democrat.

As another poster pointed out, we shouldn’t confuse education with intelligence. “Educated” at a college level does not mean ANYTHING close to what it once did, nor does graduating prove an individual’s critical reasoning capabilities.

I work with a lot of PhDs in chemistry and chemical engineers. Bright people who actually became experts in their field of study. When I hear some of them speak about politics or the news, though, deference to “experts” and illogical appeals to authority become their controlling mindset. It’s like they lose all critical reasoning— they’ll read CNN, Yahoo, MSN in the same way as a technical manual for the remote control.

Because he was always going to be an ‘installed puppet’. COVID was an excuse for voting chaos, they had the opportunity to install any ‘legitimate’ candidate they wanted...but they wouldn’t risk somebody ‘fringe’, like Bernie or others, Biden fit the bill. Biden’s comments, such as “they won’t let me do that” exposed that he was under control. Even his EO’s were not what he thought or was led to believe. All Obama’s ‘shadow government’ running the Oval Office.

Pelosi and company were purely selfish, that whole generation just wanted to keep power as long as possible, while not grooming another generation. Now they have nothing. Who is going to lead the party? Who would want to? They don’t even have an answer for ‘what is a woman?’.

...4 years from now is a long time but it appears Vance is being tee’d up nicely. We could have 12 years of ‘America First’, with the deep state dismantled.

As opposed to Biden who “lost his mind” years before the debate.

Given their slavish (Slavic, serb-level?) but very willing obedience to do “whatever their bosses want, as soon as their bosses want” perhaps we should call today’s godless, anti-Western international party the Politbureau.

The democrat Party’s Washington-Brussels-London Deep State trokia is far more efficient an Internation Communist power than Russia’s Moscow ever was. (Though China is still ahead as a dictatorship, the London-Brussels-Berlin government’s are rushing to catch up.)
