I was born in the Ozarks. We left for east Kansas, and then the Pacific NW. My dad hated the heat, humidity, and bugs in Arkansas. Coastal Oregon was much more to his liking. A surprising number of people here are from the central midwest.
In the 60’s and 70’s the ticks weren’t bad but the Pine Bluff Arsenal NBC disposal and development center did some experiments.
