Today's virulent anti-semitism in the West comes now mostly from the Far Left -- but conservatives in America make the mistake of projecting our own landscape to Europe's or even Canada's, when things are in fact more more nuanced despite many shared values...
Anti-Semitism sadly transcends political divides (as well as denominational Christian divides) in Europe and sadly always has.
And there isn't a historical "religious right" in most of Western Europe as here. 'Conservatives' tend to be pro-choice, secular, etc...But at the moment there is at least a hunger for lost cultural Christianity...
Jean Marie Le Pen certain held some vile ideas.
But I must caution Jewish leaders. Le Pen’s reformed National Front is doing its best to limit the Muslim invasion of Europe. Cripple the National Front, and you inadvertently aid in that invasion.
And since every Muslim is commanded to kill every Jew, you wouldn’t like what would come next.
She’s still needed in France.
In the 1980s I was working at a New York hospital. We were transferring a patient from stretcher to bed a ninety rear old woman. I saw her concentration camp tattoo myself. It was scrawled onto her arm. Freehanded by some cruel bastard.
There was Mr G another patient. He had cancer and was a repeat patient. On bought shift I’d see him. He would pace around his room talking to himself asking why did tgey kill the childred. His little sister. His mother.
Whe people deny the holocaust they are so hateful and ignrant. Tgey would call me a liar and never explain things I have seen.
Holocaust denial is old school outdated antisemitism which was held mostly by uneducated people.
Its time has mostly passed.
What should be concerning is the 21st century antisemitism that has become manifest since October 7, 2023.
It is just as vile and being held by supposed educated folk.
Killing innocents because of ethnicity is as evil as it gets, whether it was the numbers of the Holocaust or the numbers of October 7.
The old guy in the article is dead, but antisemitism is going strong in America whether it is on our college campuses or the congressional caucus of the Democrat wing of the uniparty.
The LePens have never been conservative. At all.
The LePens are socialist, pro-LGBT, etc.
France needs a fresh grass-roots surge of nationalism.
The Le Pen dynasty has shot its wad and never fully got out of the crab barrel that is European politics. Damaged goods.
Yes he was. But he was kicked out of the party and is now dead. His daughter is a different kettle of fish.
Some holocaust survivors have endorsed national rally because they can see they are their best hope of France not becoming overrun by murderous anti-semites.
It sounds like today’s Universities and Democrat Party.
His daughter Marine Le Pen kicked him out of the party. It made the party immensely popular.
As we speak the RN is the biggest party of France.
They are pro Israel, anti-immigration and very opposed to national socialism.
They can’t stand immature people fooling around doing nazi-salutes...
Bardella is the president of the party now. A great guy.
His party is deeply against the IRAN-Russia-North Korea-China Alliance.
There are two ways of looking at left vs. right. One is with socialists and then Communists on the left, and libertarians on the right. That one looks sort of like a ruler or strip.
The other is a Mobius strip with someone like, oh, Reagan in the middle, Commies (in practice) on the left, and Nazis on the right, except the two ends are glued together, and (in practice) the Commies and the Nazis are just “flip sides” of the same sort of evil. Don’t ask me where the Libertarians fit on that one, which sort of reflects reality, as their numbers are so small, and a true Libertarian gov’t would get swallowed by an aggressor quickly anyway. :-(
Your point about “nuances” is a good one, tho’ I think they are more than nuances. They also seem to blow right by many Americans. We forget, for example, that most Euro “democracies” have not even been around for long, or fail to appreciate how violent the Euros’ not far past has been. “Keeping a lid on it” seems repressive to us, but might be a matter of many deaths for them, given their tendency for things to corkscrew out of control.
Did she graduate Haavaad or Columbia?
