The most powerful potential Republican, Congressman James Comer, has already passed on this race and may instead go for governor in 2027, when there is no incumbent.
Who will the winner actually be? That’s easy. Whoever gets Donald Trump's endorsement. Right now, that has to be Andy Barr.

A dirty sock and it’ll do a much better job.
**The likely Republican favorite now, Congressman Andy Barr of Lexington, wasted no time blasting Cameron as a loser and setting the stage for his own expected announcement.**
Cameron is young and should have run for reelection as Atty. General. Perhaps a SCOTUS appointment replacing Thomas. He’s unlikely to ‘evolve’ leftward given his political campaigns.
Yep, or a simple Carbon Rod
>They will raise millions from national Democrats (money is one thing the Dems don’t lack)
It will be interesting to see if this holds as USAID and other governmental money spigots are turned off by DOGE. I have great hopes in it meaning a huge change in Congress in 2027 and beyond.
Not sure who it will be, but if they believe in Capitalism and can fog a mirror, that’s good enough for me.
That got very nasty very quickly.
Barr has never won statewide, unlike Cameron (who defeated Greg Stumbo), so that criticism is rather hollow...but, that’s the nature of politics. Too many wrote off the governor’s race given Beshear’s approval ratings in the mid to high 60s and Cameron was not given much money nor much attention paid attention to the race nationally - the end result of 53-47 indicates it could indeed have been won with a full effort the whole campaign. Trump himself was at the height of the lawfare campaign against him and could not come here for GOTV efforts / rallies or fundraisers. Beyond not winning the governorship of Kentucky, the failure of the conservative movement and GOP to oust Beshear could have national implications in the future - potentially a very big mistake leaving him on the bench for 2028.
As we discussed on the other thread...really don’t like having House seats “open” even if it is a Republican-leaning district - Barr himself has had trouble winning there some years and this would be an off year election with the House majority on thin ice.
I also would not be so sure about Trump’s endorsement going to Barr if Nate Morris gets into the race as he has close connections to JD Vance and others in Trump’s circle.
Any similarity to Howdy Doody is purely accidental.
Wrong- tue Democrat will because Mitch McConnell will do whatever it takes to get his revenge by sabotaging the GOP candidate.
While in college, he was also an intern for U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell, the Republican National Committee, and the Heritage Foundation.
Thoughts?
How abt a STATUE of the turtle holding a sign that says “I vote YES for anything Trump wants”? Start today.
Who cares as long as he’s gone.
Mitch’s days on earth appear short numbered. Meanwhile endorsements by him (and his staff) can be neutralized by his shady connections and deals. Go DOGE.
Who will replace Mitch McConnell?
Hillary’s looking for work
WE DO NOT NEED A CARBON COPY OF MITCH
Ambition — to become a high ranking tool for the Chinese Communist Party; bagman;
Mitch is kind of the fair-weather conservative, handy when the winds are blowing his way.
Did you mean "that IS on board with Trump's agenda"?
Regardless, Kentucky changed its replacement law last year and there would be a special election. Beshear wouldn't get to just pick some nut like Amy McGrath.
