Zelensky's five moves that set off Trump
Axios ^ | 2/21/2025 | Marc Caputo

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky angered Donald Trump so much during the peace talks with Russia that Trump was on the verge of withdrawing American military support from Ukraine, three U.S. officials familiar with the discussions tell Axios.

-snip-

The deal Trump appears to be negotiating could be highly controversial. Based on their public and private statements, Trump's team is expected to pressure Zelensky into giving up Crimea (which Putin seized in 2014) portions of eastern Ukraine and the Azov Coast (occupied in Russia's 2022 invasion).

“the Russians will come back for the rest later, as the Nazis did with Czechoslovakia after the Munich agreement.”

The Nazis were Europeans. The same Europeans who invaded Russia a couple of years after the Munich agreement. About 120 years after France invaded Russia. Russia has more reason to be afraid of Europe than Europe does Russia.

Good thing you’re not negotiating. The US owes Ukraine nothing. They are welcome to fight forever and become Gaza but they can’t expect free money in perpetuity. They can team up with France and rush Moscow.

You don’t understand Russia and you have been fed with the Putin is the devil mantra. Trump is more than able to work with Putin now and have quick turn around. Putin is a pragmatist. He’s never not Iranian.

Lose 20% of your dirt and have peace.

Lose 100% of your dirt, 40% of your people, and $1T of our dollars and have this war.

I don’t think we will be funding your loss.

Game over.

If Ukraine joins NATO, Russia will take 100% of Ukraine.

That’s what got this ball rolling, that Russian perspective.

You and I don’t like it, but there it is.

I don’t think the Russians would be that stupid.

Axios ends with:

The U.S. insistence on claiming a share of Ukraine's mineral rights has been compared to a "mafia shakedown" by liberal critics, who point out that the country would lose land and mineral rights and get little in return.

"It's a sh*t sandwich," a Trump administration official acknowledged.

"But Ukraine is going to have to eat it because [Trump] has made clear this is no longer our problem."

Axios and some unnamed person have quite a way with words. Tasty.

He probably already took his customer 10% cut of at least 7.5 Billion.

He is used to bowling over stupid lazy politicians, especially the ancient, absent one. Trump will outwork this twerp.

Zelensky should have handled his concerns with the deal quietly and diplomatically. He should have called President Trump directly.

They have proved that they are. See the last 3 years.

I don’t like Putin, Russia, or most Russians. But I somewhat understand them. Don’t agree, but understand.

They will bleed millions of lives over pride and think it’s worth it.

I don’t want to bleed American Trillions or a single life because a corrupt Ukraine failed to sufficiently provide for its own defense.

The unnamed person is correct. Zelensky only has two options: Trump or Putin. Europe is a joke. Why antagonize President Trump?

Maybe working for free for now hoping a leftist judge will reinstate his cut.

Once the adults resolve the mess and the corruption is exposed, the zeepers will run away to DU and we’ll be free of these nauseating threadz.

Love ya, brother FReeper. Mainly, I hate these Ukie / Russ flame wars. But I think the whole game is over, as I outlined above. Ukraine loses 20% today or 100% tomorrow. Trump is right to force a deal using our tax dollars as the lever.

The US should not place any financial value on any mineral rights deal with Ukraine. All of any such profits will be fleeced. If anything it will become a millstone around the necks of US taxpayers.

Zelensky is a little whippersnapper who needs his ass kicked. He dragged America into his war to distract Americans from the fact that America was also being invaded. Nobody was spending billions to stop that invasion.

In the movie version Zelenski would be Sonny Bunz...and we all know who Paulie would be.
