Not exactly a criminal mastermind. Per the article, murder, then attempted suicide, then fled. He got nos. 2 and 3 in the wrong order

The guy gets out and sets off a bomb beside the car that burns his wife beyond recognition- then he runs inside and stabs himself in the stomach - runs away and calls 911 for help.
Gets charged with 2nd degree murder and arson.
Now that’s a bad day.
