ATO's British-led, rapid-response force is "ready" to be deployed if needed, a senior commander has said, after U.K. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer signaled he was "ready and willing" to put British troops on the ground to enforce a ceasefire in Ukraine.
Why It Matters
Starmer said in an opinion piece published in U.K. newspaper The Telegraph on Sunday that contributing a British force to help maintain a possible ceasefire agreement was not something he took "lightly."
Sweden has indicated it would consider a similar move, although other European countries quickly ruled out contributing troops. Russia's Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, said the deployment of such peacekeeping forces in Ukraine would be "completely unacceptable."
What To Know
Brigadier Andy Watson, the commander of the Allied Reaction Force (ARF) Brigade, said on Tuesday that British forces currently training a handful of miles from the Ukrainian border were "absolutely" ready, trained and "well-resourced" for any operations, including heading into Ukraine to police a future ceasefire.
"In terms of preparation, my brigade is ready," Watson said. "It should show to anyone that NATO and the ARF is agile, it's responsive, and it's capable."

Everyone keeps bragging about how weak the Russian conventional force is, and how they could never stand up to US or even NATO forces.
It’s likely not too far from the truth.
But this should bring to mind a 70 year old man with a 38 in his pocket. A couple of toughs start shoving him around, abusing and humiliating him. He even tells them he has that 38 and they better back off. They laugh and go harder convinced he wouldn’t dare.
Lots of toughs have met their end just that way.
Let Europe burn itself to the ground in stupidity…
Honestly if they are stupid enough to put boots on the ground in Ukraine, the NATO alliance should end..
The UK has been threatening this for some time now. Trump should make it clear we will not help you. Period.
I think Hegseth performed that task. He went to the EU and told them to develop their own defenses, assume responsibility for Ukraine, and that no US troops would go to Ukraine. He also said the US would not honor article 5 of NATO (come to defense of member nations).

I used to think it was the US deep-state leading the insanity in Ukraine for the last 10 years.
Now I believe the actual genesis of the idea was in Europe, particularly the UK.
I was thinking the same. They would likely purposely provoke something and the brigade would get wiped out. Then finally, at last, NATO could have their little war.
Yup. I think that’s the plan.
Whoever expects to win, by using military force, needs to have superiority of:
- artillery
- drones and anti-drone systems
- intel
- maintenance of those three

Air Superiority is the key to all of those mentioned above.
The US should leave NATO. NATO is out of control (except for the euro-twits who desire some sort of “war” with their inadequate forces (farces?).
