Don's mother was a hard-core life-long Catholic so ... he went to public high school but he graduated from Dayton which is a Catholic university for people who couldn't get into Notre Dame (Dayton was a great party school in the late last century, they had a tradition of burning couches in the streets after big Dayton basekeetball upsets) ... so, yeah, if he hasn't explicitly renounced Catholicism, he "could'a be da next Pope".
