Move over, Socrates. Step aside, Descartes.
The University of Alabama has ushered in a new era of philosophical enlightenment that doesn’t merely ponder the meaning of life but demands we finally confront the great, unspoken tyranny of our time: sizism.
(Which, by the way, can also be spelled “sizeism.” Because one can’t have too many isms, it seems.)
Yes, dear reader, in a world beset by trivial concerns like war, economic collapse, and the creeping erosion of civil liberties, the real struggle is taking place in the narrow confines of an airplane seat.
Finally, academia has found the courage to ask the pressing question: Why does the world refuse to make space for us?
According to The College Fix, Alabama’s philosophy department has served up a course exploring the systemic oppression of people of size. It’s an all-you-can-eat buffet of woke grievance, where students can pile their plates high with heaping portions of victimhood.
And the best part? There’s no need to worry about portion control—this is one class where “too much” is never enough.
A Heavyweight Course Load
Now, I know what you’re thinking: Alabama? Isn’t that a red state?
Sometimes, despite the best intentions of mice and men, things go wrong—and a class like this winds up on the menu.
The course Philosophy of Oppression dives deep into the treacherous waters of weight-based discrimination, among other ponderous matters. It is, quite literally, a big deal.

one day people will be judged not for what they do, think or believe but on how much CO2 they exhale. fyi for the heavier folks.
Not appealing at all.
If all the questions in philosophy were suddenly answered, nothing would be gained.

No better state to start excusing wanton obesity than Alabama.
Besides statistics, I hated philosophy in college. Both classes sucked!
BTTT
Somebody please get her a napkin.
Worst course I ever had in college was Philosophy.
Alabama philosophy prof?
I’m picturing the students in this class trying to squeeze into those little desk-chair things.
Secular philosophy can’t even show that oppression is a bad thing.
Check out the Alabama Honeybees. This is epidemic. It is terrible that rather than promote an effort at being healthy, we are expected to normalize and even celebrate morbid obesity. You rarely saw a huge person 60 years ago. Curly Howard was considered fat. So was Jackie Gleason, to the point of nearly constant fat jokes. Compare images of them then to people now. They weren’t all that fat. FWIW, cut the carbs and sugar and much of that goes away.
Hey now... I love the Honeybees! Those ladies can move and are great performers! At least they are very active and doing something productive!
Yes, we are not all toothless hicks that marry our cousins. Please don’t ever move to my wonderful state.
Yes, even here in the most conservative state in this Republic, we have Marxist loons teaching in UA. No different that 99.9% of the U’s in this country. Wish it were different, but it ain’t. I went to Jacksonville St. U. here in Bama back in the day and even way, way back in the 1970s there were liberals teaching at Jax State.
