They also run one of the biggest airlines in the world that’s how they shepherd in the tourists (Emirates)
It’s impressive what they have built but it’s rarely the full picture
Anyone been or heard off such stories?
The same applies to Saudi and other jurisdictions (Qatar?).
Many want to copy what Dubai have done
Dubai is pretty and glitzy. The beaches are nice and the beach clubs are pretty swanky. But yes, one must mind one’s p’s and q’s there. You can enjoy yourself but it’s best not to attract undue attention.
For some reason, there are *lots* of Brits there. They seem drawn to the UAE for some reason. I did enjoy sipping a beer or two with friends while listening to British rock or blues bands (mostly cover stuff) at the western hotel bars there.
Emirates Air is sweet. Even coach class has decent legroom and the food and service are exceptional.
I enjoyed my few short stays there but it’s not really my cup of chai.
