America is bracing for a brutal Arctic blast as a massive polar vortex smashes the country bringing deep freeze and catastrophic winter storms.
Meteorologists are warning this will be the most punishing Arctic invasion yet, cementing this period as one of relentless, record-breaking cold.
Frigid forces in the Arctic are converging, pushing what should be confined to the North Pole deep into the US, several meteorologists tell The Associated Press.
This will be the 10th time this winter the polar vortex - which keeps the coldest air at the top of the world - stretches like a rubber band to send it south, said Judah Cohen, forecast director at the private firm Atmospheric and Environmental Research.
In a normal winter, it happens maybe two or three times.
This winter, with record snow in New Orleans and drought and destructive wildfires in Southern California, has not been normal.
The latest projected cold outbreak should first hit the northern Rockies and northern Plains Saturday and then stick around all next week. The cold will likely concentrate east of the Rockies with only the far American west and central and southern Florida exempted, meteorologists said.
On Tuesday, expect the Lower 48 states to have an average low of 16.6 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 8.6 Celsius), and then plunge to 14 degrees (minus 10 Celsius) on Wednesday, calculated private meteorologist Ryan Maue, a former National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration chief scientist.

“Terrifying triple weather threat” I’m so friggin’ terrified I think I’ll throw another log in the woodstove and sip some bourbon. Global warming? Ok, I’d love to grow citrus fruit in N.J. Bring it on.
That’s it. thank you ;^)
I pulled the plug on my anti-lock brakes...I can do a better job.... I’m old school.
You’ll be much happier if you buy the adapter hose to connect the little heater to the larger 20 propane grill tanks. They’re readily refilled, run the heater for days, and the little green cans are stupid expensive. That’s how we use the little heater in the bunkhouse at camp.
So much drama...it's called WINTER!!
Holy Crap, Polar Vortex!
Are we all going to die?
Translated “Kill yourselves now people, before you feel more winter.”
sounds like ... winter ....
Thank GOD for global warming.
We do use portable heaters in normally unheated upstairs rooms.
A triple threat 😳, the horror, people will die, it’s the end of the world.... or it’s just winter weather.
“...the fact of global warming...”
the psychotic left deleted that phrase from its mindless propaganda long ago, R
did you not get the memo
By the look of your handle, I’d say you’re about 72 and the one thing I can guarantee you is that 72 years from now there will still be snow on top of that mountain.
Despite the meanderings of soothsaying fools like Al Gore, the temperature of air freezes at about 10,000 feet above sea level... That doesn’t change, hasn’t changed and will not change for several thousands of years and global warming cult believers never consider that fact.
Mount Kilimanjaro is 19,341 feet above sea level... That snow isn’t going anywhere.
To use the larger tank on a Buddy Heater you need to buy the inline filter or the special 10 foot non-leching hose because the normal propane hoses leach petroleum droplets which clog up and ruin the Buddy Heaters.
On stoves and such the leaching doesn’t matter in the open flame but with the Buddy Heater it clogs the safe for indoors catalytic burner instead of burns off.
Yep, they’re worth it. We use them in duck blinds when hunting and they keep us very warm.
Sounds like that heater repairman ought to quit his job and go find some career he might be good at.
In Virginia they like to slam on their brakes as soon as it starts raining. No taking the foot off the gas pedal and slowing down gradually. No, they panic and slam on the brakes.
I have said it before...
I will say it again...
Where is that globull warming when you need it?
Vacation?
Never been there....but is on my list. Any pointers welcomed.
