Is this antithetical to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?" Is there a vestigial theory at the root of our legal code that is incompatible with our founding ideals?

I respectfully disagree with the premise of this video. The 5th Amendment says: ...
nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation. "Private property" says to me that the Constitution recognizes private ownership of property. Not use of state owned property.

At 18:00, he even suggests that we, as people, also belong as “resources” to “the state.” He used the military draft as an example. Maybe he is right about the law, but, yes, it does sound antithetical to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
