Vice President JD Vance on Thursday reportedly warned that the U.S. wouldn’t rule out tough sanctions or even potential military action against Russia if President Vladimir Putin didn’t come to the negotiating table on a deal that would guarantee peace for Ukraine.

In speaking with The Wall Street Journal, which was the first to report on Vance’s comments, the vice president said sending U.S. troops to Ukraine was "on the table" if Russia failed to negotiate in good faith.

Vance said there are "economic tools of leverage [and] there are, of course, military tools of leverage" that the U.S. could use against Putin.

"I think there is a deal that is going to come out of this that’s going to shock a lot of people," Vance told The Journal.

Trump and Vance are doing a “good cop, bad cop” on Putin and Zelenskyy. Let’s see how it goes.

“...if Russia failed to negotiate in good faith”

Russia will negotiate in good faith, so that’s not an issue. The problem will be that the USAID-funded media and the Democrats will not like the results of those negotiations.

LOL! So when has Russia EVER negotiated ANYTHING in good faith, Bob?

I know you really don't believe that nonsense.

“Military action” implies at some level going to war directly with Russia. Fortunately, I think they’ve already got better communications and plans with Russia.

“U.S. troops to Ukraine was “on the table” if Russia failed to negotiate in good faith”

Trump’s approval rating would match Biden’s if that happened.

Interesting that your "cited" first paragraph isn't what the current FOX web page shows.

First sentence:

FOX says "Vice President JD Vance on Thursday said President Donald Trump wanted productive negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, but noted that the U.S. had a 'range of options; if President Vladimir Putin didn't come to the negotiating table on a deal that would guarantee peace for Ukraine."

Yours says: "Vice President JD Vance on Thursday reportedly warned that the U.S. wouldn't rule out tough sanctions or even potential military action against Russia if President Vladimir Putin didn't come to the negotiating table on a deal that would guarantee peace for Ukraine."

Transcription problems?

Second sentence:

FOX says: "In speaking with The Wall Street Journal, which was the first to report on Vance's comments, the vice president said President Trump was willing to employ a broad range of options to negotiate a peace deal. "

Yours says: "In speaking with The Wall Street Journal, which was the first to report on Vance's comments, the vice president said sending U.S. troops to Ukraine was "on the table" if Russia failed to negotiate in good faith."

Transcription problems? Seems proven. FOX doesn't says what you say it says.

Maybe Freepers reading the ACTUAL news article is wise....

“LOL! So when has Russia EVER negotiated ANYTHING in good faith, Bob? I know you really don’t believe that nonsense.”

We all know the USAID Narrative, so that no longer works.

What I base my opinions on is how many countries supported the Neocon Sanctions on Russia, when the West was DEMANDING those sanctions.

Well, very few beyond the countries that USAID had already captured, which is most of Europe, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. In fact, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that nearly everyone of these countries now has FULL-SCALE CENSORSHIP, which is needed to avoid anything other than the USAID Narrative from being discussed (openly).

The Russians attacking the ‘sarcophagus’ shielding the remnants of the Chernobyl #4 Reactor is typical of Putin’s vindictive scorched earth approach to “peacemaking.”

No surprise there.

The media are such liars. Vance never said “troops were on the table”. He said military options are on the table, which includes a lot of things any of which many not include troops.

MucusMaximus, why is the title completely contrived?

It does not match the article!? Admins should correct it.

Nice try. A simple, web page text search finds no "troops" in the text. No complete phrase, "military action." Even the phrase "failed to negotiate" is not found. FOX must have revised a lot....

Or you did.

You posted the article -- 7:27:56 AM.

After the "revision." Good morning.

Vance Wields Threat of Sanctions, Military Action to Push Putin Into Ukraine Deal

PARIS—Vice President JD Vance said Thursday that the U.S. would hit Moscow with sanctions and potentially military action if Russian President Vladimir Putin won’t agree to a peace deal with Ukraine that guarantees Kyiv’s long-term independence.

Vance said the option of sending U.S. troops to Ukraine if Moscow failed to negotiate in good faith remained “on the table,” striking a far tougher tone than did Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who on Wednesday suggested the U.S. wouldn’t commit forces.

“There are economic tools of leverage, there are of course military tools of leverage” the U.S. could use against Putin, Vance said.

Be mad at Fox News for editing the article. Wall Street Journal has not changed a thing.

There are only 2 ways that UKR can be guaranteed peace from Russian aggression: by Russian military defeat or by Russia disarming its military. The first is more likely than the later. The later would also require someone like B. Yeltsin to take over from Putin.

As long as Putin is in power, Russia will continue to seek to expand it’s borders, in an effort to reclaim the old USSR borders - no matter the cost, while using any halt in fighting to continue to fight elsewhere in Europe and building out it’s military for a wider war.

Russia and peace are not two words that go together. 47 needs to understand this and stop repeating Putin talking points and making verbal concessions, even before any formal negotiations begin.

To that end Vance seems to get it, and Hegseth had to walk back his verbal concessions to Russia. So there might be a glimmer of hope for UKR.

Any military action by NATO would quickly roll up Russian lines in most of UKR, since they have almost no air defenses remaining nor early warning radars. Their AF is so far behind the front as to make it a non-starter.
