Romania Registers Lowest Natality Rate in Last 100 Years
Euronews ^ | 12/02/2025

There has been a downward trend since 1960 in the number of children born in the EU. In 2024, Romania recorded its lowest natality rate in the last 100 years.

Romania has registered the lowest natality rate in a century – with figures showing that less than 150,000 babies were born last year.

Many Romanian villages are registering an ageing population. In urban areas, many are choosing to put their career first and instead have children at a later age.

Some schools and kindergartens have been forced to shut due to the lack of children available to attend courses. This could be seen in the villages of Chilia or Brebu.

“There is no school here anymore,” said Alexandru Petzi, a former manager of a closed school in Brebu, “There is another school in another village nearby, in Valic. There are two children from our village who go to school there.”

“I myself wouldn’t be afraid of this, we are talking about a process underway in many European countries,” said Romanian Academy sociologist Bogdan Voicu.

“Romania has started a couple of years ago to modernise, demographically speaking,” he added.

Statistics show that Romanian municipalities of Tulcea, Caras Severin, Mehedinti, Covasna, Teleorman and Giurgiu are on the list with a notably low natality rate.

Almost a hundred years ago in 1930, Romania registered more than 480,000 births – a stark contrast to modern times.

So, can they vote for their own President, or do they need Immigrants to do that?

They can vote for their own president, but that is far less of a factor than voting with their children. Countries with low birth rates are asking for more immigration, no matter who the president is.

"we are talking about a process underway in many European countries,”

I don't know why they don't see the real problem.

Yes, the actual Europeans are not reproducing, and that is a problem. They end up with a shortage of workers, and that isn't good. But they try to "fix" the problem by importing millions of Muslims. Well, the Muslims don't work, so that labor shortage problem isn't getting fixed. And the Muslims breed like rabbits. So Europe is becoming a Muslim continent. Europeans are just wiping themselves out.

All Western countries “target” three percent inflation for a “healthy economy.” But they don’t count food, fuel, insurance, medical expenses, etc. So real inflation is over ten percent. That means if you save money, you’ll need cumulative fifty percent increase for that money to retain the same purchasing value over ten years. Where can you get a guaranteed ten percent interest per year? What this means is working people can’t afford children.

I was born in a working-class family in 1954. My father, the sole bread winner, owned our house, bought two cars and put all three children through college. What blue collar man can do that today?

Their last vote was canceled by the EU. That was what I was referring to.

There are enough people. Western nations have reached a voluntary point of balance. Government want more tax payers and stupidly believe importing the turd world trash to outbreed the natives will bring in tax dollars.

Members of the Longshoremen’s Union.

Men in the skilled building trades in many cases are doing well. A young man starting a career in the merchant marine can be making $100,000 a year after about six years (and that is for 6 months work and room and board paid for by the company which is tax free).

Maybe the Democrats say that, but not that many Americans, nor Japanese.

Natality rate and birth rate are the same thing. Birth rate is important measure in the context of comparing countries births.

Birth rate refers to the number of live births per 1,000 individuals in a population over a specific period, usually a year. It is calculated by dividing the number of live births during the period by the total population and multiplying by 1,000. Birth rate is often expressed as a rate per 1,000 individuals.

Fertility rate, on the other hand, measures the average number of children born to a woman over her lifetime. It is calculated by summing up the age-specific fertility rates for all ages and multiplying by the length of the reproductive period. Fertility rate is usually expressed as the number of children per woman.
