People around the world mourned this anglerfish over the weekend and showed what's special about humanity

Last week, a monster of the deep saw the light.

VIDEO AT LINK..................

Look at the chompers on that thing!

The black seadevil has earned its name. It lives in darkness between 700 and 5,000 feet, luring in prey with the appendage on its head. Because it lives in the deep, the monster has only been filmed one time in 2014 when a team from the Monterey Bay Aquarium spotted one swimming at 1,900 feet.

This time, a Spanish organization called Condrik Tenerife spotted it in the waters of the Canary Islands off the coast of Africa in early February.

Of course, jokes had to be made:

Didn’t know my ex wife learned to swim— Aaron (@Lisa202312) February 10, 2025

(I mean, that IS a female - the males are tiny and essentially fuse to the females for life.)

But even though the black seadevil is uglier than almost everything else on God's green earth, not everyone reacted with jokes - particularly not those who actually watched the video.

Many people identified with the monster.

People were even sharing this comic, which was actually made long before this incident:

We feel haunted when we see videos like this. Unlike animals, humans understand story, purpose, and the infinite. We too are doomed creatures that struggle for the light.

James, the brother of Jesus, said this about human nature in his letter to early Christians:

Every kind of animal, bird, reptile, and fish is tamed and has been tamed by humankind, but no one can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With the tongue we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in God's likeness.

We know there are monsters that live within us. Our hearts are as ugly as that anglerfish. We want to be free, we long for the light ... but the darkness within us cannot coexist with that light, no more than this anglerfish could survive on the surface.

As the Apostle Paul writes:

[God] alone possesses immortality and lives in unapproachable light...

There is a chasm beyond comprehension between us and that light.

And yet we are drawn to the light all the same, like this doomed anglerfish or a moth to a flame, because the glory of that same light also lives within us.

So God created man in his own image; he created him in the image of God; he created them male and female.

The good news is that we have an opportunity that the black seadevil does not. There is a way for us to survive. Jesus spoke to them again: 'I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life.'

Across all the oceans of the universe, our hearts are drawn to that light until we take our final breath in this life.

Let this anglerfish remind you of that truth, your choices, and the journey ahead of you.

Don't they explode like Arnold Schwarzenegger on Mars when they get to the pressure less surface?

Bill Clinton is thankful he is not an Anglerfish.

Cuter than Hellen Thomas.

And FFS. IT’S A FISH. These snowflakes crying over a dead fish most likely celebrate “reproductive healthcare” baby killing.

I’m a sucker for things like this. Every creature has a soul somewhere and somehow.

I think I’ve mentioned that in our coldest weather so far one of my renter’s cows kept drawing my attention away from feeding and going to the far side of the timber then coming back to get my attention and going back out again. I went to look and she led me to what was left of her calf. We had a predator of some kind. I took the remains to bury and she sniffed and mourned for days until one cow had twins.

The fellow I rent to does not manage the herd well and kept the bull with them at all times. The result of that is calves are born all year and very often in the harshest weather. Several were born after Christmas this year. We had a few warmer days between cold weather. I had arranged hay bales for a wind break and on the warm day they were playing king of the mountain and chasing around the herd. They had never seen a warm day with sunshine in their whole short life. They had no idea that every day was not crap and miserable.

I don’t plan to keep the renter but I can’t let the animals suffer just because someone else is OK with that.

I have a vague idea of what those sad and verklempt viewers are going through. A vague idea.
Back around 1986, a movie came out called “Mask”.

It was based on a true story about this young boy named
Roy L. “Rocky” Dennis. Dennis was a teenager with craniodiaphyseal dysplasia, a rare genetic disorder that caused his face to be disfigured. It is most commonly known as the disease of Elephantitis.
Cher starred as his mother, Sam Elliot as her boyfriend, Eric Stoltz as Rocky.

I am in no ways physically deformed, but for reasons I won’t go into right now, I identified in a VERY minor way with Rocky. Sum total results?
I cried my eyes out, and was so glad I was not with anyone else in that theater. My grief was incredible, like a tsunami I could not hold back. Michelle O would have said “All this, for a movie character?”. But there was something I indirectly understood about how Rocky may have suffered.
So, I kinda get this article.
