Storming the field basically is an admission that your program sucks.
I remember a few years ago Kansas fans stormed the field after beating a Division I-AA team.
Was that before or after “The Play” where the Stanford marching band got on the field while the game was still going on? A true classic of keeping people off the field. I mean I know it was the band, so not really like fans storming the field. But a reminder that sometimes the game ain’t over. And that trombone player probably got a good bruise.
Who woulda ever have thunk that an Auburn-Alabama basketball game would be bigger than the football game?
Championship game in basketball, just head for the exits? F—- that.
Things started getting out of hand when it turned into a place to party. If my memory serves me correctly, general admission prices were low enough that people that didn’t care about golf showed up. There were problems outside of the stadium hole as well.
The Masters runs a tight ship. Patrons and their guests can get booted for life if they act up.
Yes there is. Fun. School spirit. History.
What’s to stop the other teams fan recruiting 50 or 100 like minded fans to storm the field in hopes that it will trigger hometown fans to follow?
No. There. Isn’t. You can have school spiring and history and all the rest without storming the field.
We do.
What sport?
Golf or football?
Oh please, I was practically doing cartwheels in right field when the Yankees won the world series in 1978, and I took home a chunk of right field.....and rode the subways.....a blast!!!!!
Who? U of Central South West of the Whocares conference?
“I remember a few years ago Kansas fans stormed the field after beating a Division I-AA team”
LOL
Last time Bama fans were overjoyed enough to storm the field was when they fired Dennis Francione.
I can’t remember the last time UF has rushed the field. I can remember back as far as about 1980. So, 45 years.
