Our national anthem should be sung in reverence. It is not some jazz standard to vocally riff over.

Ok, we’ll have to agree to disagree about this.

It was the Superbowl, not a national holiday. We were not honoring heroes we were watching a football game. It was OK and reflectedd New Orleans. Now the half-time show—that was all so woke and not in keeping with the mood. But then, No one really watches that.

"Our national anthem should be sung in reverence."

IMHO, the performer was quite reverent and delivered a soulful and emotionally invested rendition of the song.

My singing voice sucks. Should me and other people with sucky voices be barred from singing the National Anthem, just because most people would not like our individual renditions/interpretations of it?

Is there a list of appropriate instruments with which the Anthem may be played and a list of instruments you would like to see barred from use in performing the anthem?
