The DEI contractor who did the defective work is now suing for #racism, because someone complained about the cracks.

One old school technique is to cover the freshly set up concrete with burlap and then keep the burlap wet long enough for the concrete to cure without cracking.
Also, concrete can be sprayed with curing compound, to reduce or prohibit cracking.
Another technique is to cut the concrete with a concrete (wet) saw to install control joints that permit the concrete to crack at the control joints, and to provide some stress relief, again preventing cracks.
Those are shovel ready cracks.

I would want to know:
Did they level and pack the earth underneath?
Did the set down forms and place down barriers?
Did they set the rebar?
How large were the spans?
Did they properly mix it?
What was the tempature when this was poured? Did they prepare for it?
Was it covered to protect against rain or frost?
I can tell you that the answer to one or more of these questions is no.
Racism is not a defense for incompetence or construction defects.
If I was the PM, they would be tearing it out and repouring it on their dime or I would be suing their carrier.

Too much water, not enough cement, and aggregates. Looks like he under bid the concrete to either get the job on his resume, or to cut a fat hog in the ass and pocket mo’money, or was on the verge of bankruptcy and cut back on ingredients hoping save money and not get caught.
None of those techniques would have helped. Those big cracks are not the result of poor curing.
This bone head used an out of spec concrete mix design.

Around here, where it’s typically dry and hot during pouring season, we often use a sprinkler to keep the surface moist for the first few days. Short spans between expansion strips. Not a single crack in my driveway after 5 years. No rebar but good base prep with 5” gravel.
I bet someone got a kick back for the bad cement-—Somehow it is only fitting.
