Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday not inviting Russia to events marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp was “shameful.”
“As for the invitation and non-invitation to events related to the liberation of Auschwitz, this is, of course, such a strange, shameful thing,” Putin said in an interview with Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin, an excerpt of which was shared on his Telegram account.
“You can have any attitude toward Russia’s policy, toward the head of the Russian state, toward me; no one is begging for any invitation. But if you think about it, you could have acted much more subtly,” Putin further said.
The Russian president argued that if it was no longer possible to invite Soviet soldiers who liberated the camp because of their health or age, their relatives could have at least been invited.

Russia has not been invited to take part in the annual events commemorating Auschwitz’s liberation since the start of the Ukraine war in February 2022.

Oh, piss off. Don’t even bring up the 2 in the same sentence.
Have Americas ever murdered anyone in a war?
Pilecki was put on trial and killed in 1949.
The Wiki is interesting. Did you read the part about "In 1940, Pilecki volunteered to allow himself to be captured by the occupying Germans in order to infiltrate the Auschwitz concentration camp?"
The article states "In 1947, he was arrested by the secret police [ Polish ] on charges of working for 'foreign imperialism' and, after being subjected to torture and a show trial, was executed in 1948. His story, inconvenient to the Polish communist authorities...."
I just read the account of it on wiki and guess I can see why they had a reason, not that I approve of it, but he certainly wasn't a random jew picked up as soon as he left Auschwitz. I would say that he certainly met the criteria of a spy.

" Pilecki was ordered by Anders and his intelligence chief, Lieutenant Colonel Stanisław Kijak, to return to Poland (from Italy) and report on the prevailing military and political situation under Soviet occupation. By December 1945 he had arrived in Warsaw and begun organizing an intelligence gathering network.[9][6] As the NIE organization had been disbanded, Pilecki recruited former ZOW and TAP members and continued sending information to the government-in-exile.[6]
To maintain his cover identity, Pilecki lived under various assumed names and changed jobs frequently. He worked as a jewelry salesman, a bottle label painter, and as the night manager of a construction warehouse. However, in July 1946 he was informed that his identity had been uncovered by the Ministry of Public Security. Anders ordered him to leave Poland, but Pilecki was reluctant to comply because he had a family in the country and his wife was unwilling to emigrate with their children, as well as due to a lack of a suitable replacement. In early 1947, his superiors rescinded the order". Continued

Oh I haven’t even started on Bandera’s boys, yet.
I can tell.
He can come back in a few months and do it twice, just like the first time.
He was snubbed like a vicious rattlesnake. He should have thought about this on February 22, 2022. The only reason he’s not going to spend the rest of his days in the Hague is because of his nukes arsenal.
Be courteous and post a link to your comments once in awhile, please.
A lot of these Russia apologists no doubt have Russian wives and/or fond memories of travel in Russia but are too shy to admit it. Others are self loathing types who see a “Globohomo” America and want it defeated by China, Russia, etc. Still others are cut and paste contrarian gadflies without an original thought in their lives. Sad lot, really.
Good summary.
Wholly inappropriate to exclude Russians from Auschwitz liberation ceremonies. Their ppl fought and died in great numbers to defeat the Nazis. It’s disingenuous to their sacrifices and achievements.
Maybe just replace Russian politicians with Russian cultural figures military representatives.
Kinda like the NVA invading Cambodia to defeat the Khmer Rouge.
There are degrees of evil as well as good.
