Of course this is a joke, but COVID was handled the way it was for a reason - partly to accelerate and amplify the creation of these people.
Only a starvation-level lack of options will make these people work, again. The uglier it is, the quicker they will adapt.

This is a joke, but its really not a joke. They don’t want to come back because they will have to work more.

Federal Workers Concerned That Returning To Office Will Interfere With Them Not Working
I know it's the bee, but... seriously, when did being in the office really interfere with anyone's will to NOT work?
Just going to add commuter costs - if a worker is a do-nothing, nothing is what they will do.

They pretend to work, but we don’t pretend to pay them.

I think there is a lot of truth in this account of federal workers.
They’re vowed to keep on “working” - don’t know how that is possible after they’re locked out of the system on Feb.6th.
Apparently this is what Musk did to purge Twitter.

Remember the books
The One-Minute Manager and its rebuttal
The Fifty-Nine Second Employee? We will see a resurgence of the lessons in these two textbooks on office dynamics. It's unfortunate that the managers are so incompetent that the RTO mandate will NOT have the intended effect.
Why? See The Peter Principle and its corollaries for the end game. You know:
- In any organization, people will rise to their level of incompetence
- Eventually every level in an organization will be populated by incompetents.
