Probably too early. Any chance a terrorist, suicidal?

If the 200 foot ceiling I heard last night is valid, it’s going to require considerable altitude management vigilance by the pilot to avoid busting it. Plus, since it’s basically an over-river corridor, you’ve got to hope there aren’t any tall ship’s masts down there!

Yes, they are fine. Once when my son was in Iraq there was an Abrahams tank that ended up in a ditch and soldiers died. When that happens, communications go into lockdown so next of kin can be notified. Suddenly my doorbell rang and I ran downstairs. There was a man with a clipboard with a petition about clean water. I wanted to strangle him. From that point forward my son Never discussed anything with me. I was ok because I really didn’t want to know what he was doing.

Actually my bet is on ATC.Good point. But there's ZERO reason for a training flight at a civilian airport in a major city.

“there’s ZERO reason for a training flight at a civilian airport in a major city.”
This training is done routinely as part of the Continuity Of Government principle.

The controllers did their job. The Helicopter was in the wrong place. They’re limited to 200 feet altitude.

When I got my ticket 40-some-odd years ago my flight instructor told me one morning, "Today, we're flying into Memphis International airport." and I about shit. I knew I was going to have to deal with transponder codes, frequency changes, ATC instructions, changing from approach to tower then to departure. When I voiced my misgivings he said I needed to do this with him in the right seat, because some day I was probably going to have to do it on my own. Chief Cook. I will never forget him.
I have flown into innumerable Class B airports since, and I frequently think of him.
There can be good reasons for training in difficult environments. With good people working the radar, this would be an easy day.

Regardless, they have a clean record. And they are most pleasant in the industry to travel with. Pure simple, no hassle

Agree. Trump gets the true story before he engages on topics. MSM doesn’t care. They just want anything to make him look incompetent in spite of knowing the state of Bidens mental capacity & the ineptitude of the cackler

To me it’s missing the one critical factor
Why don’t they clearly state you are cleared for takeoff to the chopper
In other words knowing the plane had to have been cleared for landing a simple safety check to avoid this type of tragedy
