I am seeing posts on FR that the pause on foreign aid does not impact the Ukraine. All the articles I found online which supported that view are six days old. The more recent reports in the past 2 -3 days say that aid to Ukraine is halted along with all other recipients (e.g., Taiwan) except Egypt and Israel.

Our government cannot be giving out billions to other countries, and at the same time say we have no money for Social Security and Medicare. Americans first.

Wondering why Isreal and Egypt are special.

Neither does a damn thing for America - except raid our treasury and make us lots of enemies.

Yes, I’ve seen articles with both descriptions of the cessations. Have no idea which is true.

I’m really sick of the thought that American taxpayers have for years been paying for Ukrainian retirees’ pensions as well as other Ukraine government expenses.

I don't know why the US gives foreign aid to Egypt. I recently read Egypt is getting belligerent toward Israel because of the Hamas war.

I'm all for this pause in foreign aid until SOS Rubio sorts it out.

Isaiah 19 (NIV)

23 In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. The Assyrians will go to Egypt and the Egyptians to Assyria. The Egyptians and Assyrians will worship together. 24 In that day Israel will be the third, along with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing[b] on the earth. 25 The Lord Almighty will bless them, saying, “Blessed be Egypt my people, Assyria my handiwork, and Israel my inheritance.”

Wondering why Isreal and Egypt are special.

Because Hamas is THAT Evil. And Egypt is fighting to keep them out just as every other Middle Eastern nation is doing. They just need military help to do that, since they share a border with the savages.

US government paying for pensions in Ukraine, good. US government paying for pensions in America, dangerous and bad.

Yeah, but the fact remains, we pay for both sides in this war.

Probably a lot of pork(except Israel) in nearly all this. Sad thing is the higher ups are usually the only ones to benefit. Not much left after they pick over it. Another place would be u.n. humanitarian monies that go to ngos that don’t have our interest as their priority.

This act sends multiple messages to multiple foreign recipients simultaneously.

One of these messages, though, is to fire a shot across the bow toward recipients thinking about formalizing an elitist anti-Trump sentiment or bias. Doing so will be henceforth be taken to mean that they will be seen as not just anti-Trump, which they would probably openly admit, but also, unjustifiably anti-American. Which is bad juju.

Lots of Jewish voters in USA. Egypt has large population,is poor but is not run by radical islamists like other muslim countries. So it is perceived as worth giving foreign aid to.

Uh . . . last bit that I read, says, that Sec. of State Rubio, wants all nodes of aid flow (in all categories) to report to a central “facility” (in effect), where the specifics and totals, of data, will thereby be known.

IOW, nobody knows for sure, what is flowing where, and when, in the majority of cases.

“Wondering why Israel and Egypt are special.”
Might have to do with past Senate approved treaties.

It's almost impossible to get a total because Biden's regime intentionally diffused reporting across his cabinet. So the Defense Department will say total aid given to Ukraine is (for example) 50 billion, but what they MEAN is total aid dispersed by DoD. Likewise State Department and White House will each independently report their share of funds as the 'total'. Just today I read a Kyiv article that said the US had given Ukraine a total of 49 Billion in aid, when the number is at least 189 billion, and I think that's still too low.
