Like many Americans, I became so angry at the things Joe Biden did — or did not do — that I would have to psychologically manage it through a variety of stress-reducing techniques. For example, immigration: It seemed to me as if I was being driven from my own country, and I am supposed to just take this because Joe Biden supposedly won the election? Can feckless, gutless, and weak Joe Biden do anything to me and then justify it through the press, and then the press uses its massive media might to demonize me? It seemed to me as if I was being forced to live with humiliation. DIE was little more than discrimination, inequality, and exclusion, legitimized through propaganda. I thought discrimination was wrong. Apparently not.

My levels of cynicism had almost reached a point of no reversal. The whole system is corrupt. I believe nothing the press tells me. Everything I have believed in was a lie. It’s a banana republic or, worse, a kleptocracy. Hunter Biden got paid 50 grand a month by a Ukrainian oil company, Burisma. (I was 50 years old before I got paid 50 grand a year.) Everyone who goes to Washington, the swamp, becomes a millionaire, acknowledging the true power in the world: Mammon. George Soros receives the Presidential Medal of Freedom when he funded Alvin Bragg’s campaign, and he got exactly what he paid for: an indictment of Trump. Governor Hochul sets up a law that seems so righteous, the Adult Survivors Act, but its actual goal is, once again, to drag Trump before the court, and E. Jean Carroll, with virtually no evidence, successfully sticks it to Trump for $83.3 million.

I could go on and on. The waiting period while Trump was president-elect seemed interminable

I stopped flying my American Flag for four years.

It wasn't a sign of separation from the principles of what the flag stands for, it was a recognition of the fact that my own country, the country whose flag I served under, the flag my father was buried under, viewed me, a Conservative American Citizen, as a hostile enemy.

I couldn't bring myself to raise it. I flew this flag for a while, but a wind storm reduced it to tatters.

I also heard ignorant rumblings from a passerby that it was considered to be another symbol of "white nationalism" on par with the Gadsden Flag (in their fevered minds). Really. I did. Which made me more determined to fly it. I was obliged to give a short lecture on what the "Appeal to Heaven" flag was from a historical perspective, particularly where I live. (to be fair, this person had obviously heard from somewhere that conservatives and "white nationalists" had taken to flying flags from the colonial era as a form of rebellion or protest. She was wrong on linking "conservatives and white nationalists" but was right on the rebellion or protest part)

The day after Trump won, the Stars and Stripes went right back up, and I am not bringing it down to half-mast for anyone or anything unless I deem it appropriate, and the death of Jimmy Carter is not appropriate.

I long since have stopped paying attention to when the government at any level tells me to fly the flag at half-mast, because they seem compelled to keep us in a perpetual state of mourning.

Economically it will never return to 4 years ago. Best I’m thinking is around a 30% shift. And that’s being optimistic. We figured our shift in costs for the 4 years and it’s about $1,000/month for us. The 2% SS cola ain’t much but we’ll take it.
