That happened to someone I was tracking who was flying to New York from Houston. FlightAware clocked the plane flying at a groundspeed of 750 mph.

Typically airliners flying the reverse route will avoid the highest speed jet stream core. They'll usually go north or south of the core to fly against somewhat lower speed headwinds.

Good Lord isn’t that the truth! When we were kids, flying commercial was a very enjoyable experience. Everyone dressed very appropriately and the flight attendants and crews were very friendly and professional. There wasn’t any tranny or lesbian flight attendants. The Asian airlines have kept up the tradition of friendly, professional service for the most part.
