For people with chronic kidney disease, green tea appears to be associated with a worse cardiovascular disease (vs. black tea), while black tea is associated with a roughly 10% lower of all causes of death against both green tea and not drinking any tea.

Ugggh! I’ve read tea is bad for kidney disease- now they say it’s good? I am stage 3, almost stage 4- it’s hard to find info on what to avoid or not- the info keeps changing.

Although I shou,d probably avoid tea as the only way I can drink it is with 5 heaping tablespoons of sugar and a little heavy cream. The sugar would likely offset any benefit lol

Not a fan of green tea. I do drink black tea, but I have it iced. Several times a week, usually at lunch. I have always been a light sleeper, and late night caffeine makes it worse.

I’ve been Stage 4, controlled, for the last 7 years.
2 years ago, I had a serious bout of stones, passing three large stones in 2 months.
Urologist told me to stay away from oxalate-laden foods and black tea is one of them.
Started in on green “Sun Tea” and haven’t looked back since.
I do take daily probiotics for the condition, too.

I was confused by the references to “oxidized tea”. I did not know without looking it up but green tea, black tea, and other types of tea are made from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. The main difference between them is how the leaves are processed. I think black tea is the same as “oxidized tea”, or at least it’s one type.
