The original Danish settlers to Greenland died out sometime in the 13th or 14th century. The Danes living there now are more recent arrivals.
Correction: The last Norse settlers died out around 1500 A.D. as the climate had become too cold to sustain the small farming and fishing communities. Additionally, most of the original Norse settlers were from Norway and Iceland.
A poll of the 55,000 residents, who are mostly tribal entities, found that 30,000 in favor of becoming Americans and 20,000 did not.
Only 7.8% Danish.
