You cannot find lard in the grocery stores. I have seen a small tub of bacon grease selling for $8, but that’s it. Shortening, they have, but no lard or tallow.
Look in the latin / mexican food section. It’s always there, at least in GA grocery stores

You’re in the wrong grocery store.
Here, HEB, Joe V’s SmartShop, Fiesta, 99 Ranch Market, and El Rancho all have it. Don’t know about Kroger or Randall”s
Check your Walmart. It’s in the same aisle as Crisco shortening in my store.
Other grocery stores have it with the international foods section.

All the grocery stores around here sell lard, except aldi. But then, it’s Oklahoma.
Costco carries lard.
Lard packaged for Hispanic or Mexican food is called manteca. If you have any hispanic population in your area, you might be able to find it. There are lots of brands of manteca on the general marketplace.
you’re going to the wrong grocery stores. Generic national/large regional one likely won’t but all of the grocery stores by me you can get it easy. I live in northern Chicagoland an ethnically diverse populous.
