George Soros 'didn’t want to create an employment agency,' his son says
George Soros was "very upset" by the massive number of employees and "amount of bureaucracy" at his liberal nonprofit, the Open Society Foundations, according to the Democratic megadonor’s son.
Alex Soros, the 39-year-old son of the 94-year-old hedge fund billionaire, told the Financial Times his "only regret" since taking over Open Society Foundations several years ago is that he didn’t slash the nonprofit’s workforce sooner.
"My father didn’t want to create an employment agency, he wanted to create a network of networks and he was very upset with the amount of bureaucracy at the foundation," the younger Soros said in an interview published Wednesday. "My only regret is that we didn’t do that faster, because I feel like he would have wanted that."
It’s a surprising stance for the leader of an organization that historically promotes massive government programs, and has aggressively backed American funding for "pro-democracy" initiatives in Europe, Latin America, and elsewhere. Open Society was an early backer of the Green New Deal, the multitrillion-dollar climate change proposal. Open Society spent millions of dollars lobbying for President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act, which authorized nearly $900 billion in federal spending.
Through the foundation, the Soroses have funded a number of left-wing groups that want to defund police departments, expand the Supreme Court, and dramatically expand climate change regulations. The Soroses have also funded the political campaigns for dozens of progressive district attorneys, many of whom have embraced a lenient approach to crime fighting.
In July 2023, the foundation announced plans to cut its workforce by 40 percent, and shift its focus to domestic policy issues, deemphasizing its work in Europe, Latin America, and Asia. The foundation called it a "difficult decision" at the time, and offered employees several resources to cope with the layoffs, including a "Well-being in Uncertain Times" workshop, and the opportunity to meet with a "People and Culture Advisory Partner."
Soros’s stance on bureaucratic bloat is not the only contradictory position that emerged from the Financial Times interview. Soros, who is engaged to former Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin, declared himself a "Zionist" who believes in Israel’s right to exist.
But Open Society Foundations has given millions of dollars to self-declared anti-Zionist organizations that oppose the Jewish state. It funds IfNotNow, which calls itself the "largest progressive Jewish anti-Zionist organization in the world," and Jewish Voice for Peace. Those groups were behind a protest inside the U.S. Capitol on Oct. 18, 2023, in which demonstrators unfurled banners that accused Israel of "genocide" in Gaza. Both groups organized an event outside DNC headquarters in November 2023 in which six police officers were assaulted.
Open Society also funds the Tides Center, which in turn bankrolls Samidoun, which the Israeli government has declared a terrorist front group, the Washington Free Beacon reported.
That’s rich. Lol.
Maybe Alex Soros needs a well trained DOGE to go after waste and redundancy.
Thomas Sowell:"You will never understand bureaucracies until you understand that for bureaucrats procedure is everything and outcomes are nothing."
The Soreass gang must be up to something evil.
I believe we have witnessed a public flogging by Pappa Soros upon little Alex. Alex has been focused on his betrothed Huma Abedin Weiner (yes, Hillary’s former body woman and Carlos Danger’s ex-wife), rather than on his father’s Open Society legacy.
Eliminate the DEI WOKE portion and the foundation would have no employees.
If non-profits are a bright light in the dark, bureaucrats are moths.
Indeed, the irony is great.
The assignment of a charities liquidity into their own pockets while virtue signaling the charity line, is the purpose of a not for profit charity in their circles.
Huma Abedin Weiner knows how to pick the odd men.
HEY! You guys are supposed to be scamming the American taxpayer, not my daddy!
When is your old man gonna croak, Alex?

Oh....my....sides
Dear Alex,
That’s what bureaucracy does.
It metastasizes like a cancer.
It consumes more than it produces.
It is your creation.
That MAKES YOU DR. FRANKENSTEIN.
Enjoy your ‘monster’...........
Obviously.
Correct.
