We’re getting frost quakes in Missouri...weird phenomenon. Loud booms to where you would think someone is hitting the house or firing a gun.

In the extreme cold up here we get a phenomenon that sounds like pistol shots. It’s the water in the tree trunks freezing and causing it to crack open suddenly. Very unnerving if you don’t know what it is.

Trees in Georgia will explode in the winter if the temperature drops quickly. It is caused by trapped water freezing in a confined space.

We’ve had them most of the week here, trees popping from sub-zero temps. Scaring the crap out of my dog.
