Golden State Warriors Steve Kerr, who is a staunch critic of President Donald Trump, said he avoided watching the inauguration of the 47th president of the United States on Monday.
Kerr was asked if he watched any of the festivities before the team took on the Boston Celtics.
"I didn’t watch the inauguration. I chose to watch Celtics tape," he told reporters, adding that he loved playing on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The Warriors went on to have the worst home loss since Kerr took over as head coach. The Celtics defeated the Warriors, 125-85.
Kerr had been one of the biggest critics of Trump among sports figures. He spoke at the Democratic National Convention in August in support of Vice President Kamala Harris in the election.
"I’ll be getting out every day to help people get out to vote on Nov. 5 and elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz as the next president and vice president of the United States," Kerr told the crowd in Chicago at the time
"After the results are tallied that night, we can, in the words of the great Steph Curry, we can tell Donald Trump, ‘Night, night!’"
Instead, Trump resoundingly defeated Harris in the election to become the first president since Grover Cleveland to serve two non-consecutive terms as president.

Kurr can go swing on it !
Complete DB!
He won’t be turning down champ invites to WH over Trump’s term, not with this team
Hopefully, Trump is done with that nonsense. It's a waste of time.
But if he's interested in doing PR, he's better off in inviting guys like Tiger Woods because they actually want to be at the White House.
Please, PLEASE, don’t threaten to move out of this country! (/S)
He’s still trying to appeal to the tik-tok generation, so far that’s worked for him.
TikTok generation voted for Trump.
Just move the NBA to Chy-na!
Kerr and Popovich were once very good coaches. The GSW have great talent, but Kerr is misusing it.
Popovich is not a good coach; he just had players so good he couldn’t screw it up.
I was a huge fan of Kerr’s championship teams. But he was always politically naive as to the ways of the world. Someone not to be taken seriously about important world issues.
Pop got old. Kerr became woke so he's distracted. But his best player is declining. Curry is probably bored playing basketball. Interesting enough, LeBron James has better stats than Curry even though he's older.
African volleyball.
LeBron needs the ball to be effective, the then just mostly walks the ball up the court, goes 1on1 and maybe forced to pass when time is short. He’s also is a bad defender in the latter portions of games.
Kerr is not politically naive. Islamist revolutionaries murdered his father in Lebanon and to my knowledge he has never really condemned their action.
Kerr is a stoopid punk.
I’m well aware of that. It doesn’t change my opinion of his totally woke positions, which can only be explained as naivete, considering that he’s basically a smart guy. I’ve heard him speak on radio and TV enough times to know who he is and what he’s about when it comes to social and political issues.
