Strange happenings! Just wondering is it just bad luck, or what? Our rooms at the Embassy, Crystal city, we rented 2 rooms apart from each other different floor, There was No Heat in the rooms! Then our friend Judy traveled Amtrak from New York to Washington D.C. Guess what!? She froze on the train, NO HEAT! She said it was like riding a refrigerated train! When she called to complain, (She paid400 dollars for 2 round trip tickets, AMTRAK told her they would refund her 50 dollars.

This is a Fourth Turning. Incompetence should be expected everywhere.
Amtrak is expert at failing. You’re lucky the trained moved. I took it once. They ran out of water. The kitchen lost power. And then the engine broke down just across the Oregon border and we were stuck nearly 20 hours before they finally got a replacement engine. Amtrak should be on the DOGE list for elimination.
They are definitely expensive. I will fly home from Chicago. But it’s really nice and relaxing on the train. The dining room is nice and they have the observation decks where you can just sit and watch the scenery as long as you want.

Unfortunately, unless they have changed the schedules, they go through the mountains at night and North Dakota in the daytime...both directions! Breakfast along the Willamette River is beautiful, though. Oops, thats the Empire Builder, nevermind.

That is baloney. I lived there and it can get very cold. I've even had a foot of snow.
I’ve seen a few youtube videos on amtrak proponents. Not impressed. Also won’t fly anymore due to DIE. We will just drive to Biloxi for Mardi Gras from Upstate NY.
