ALLAHASSEE, Fla. โ Florida spent Tuesday preparing for its most significant bout of winter weather since 1989, with airports closing and officials calling for residents in the western Panhandle to stay off the roads.
On Tuesday evening, widespread reports of 5-12 inches of snow were reported around Pensacola, causing troopers to shut down a nearly 70-mile stretch of Interstate 10. National Weather Service offices along the corridor issued a rare Winter Storm Warning for counties from Pensacola to Jacksonville, warning of snow and ice accumulations that could make travel hazardous.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis issued a state of emergency on Monday ahead of the wintry mess and said that for communities in the Panhandle, the wintry mess could be record-breaking. The Sunshine State's all-time greatest snowfall was 4 inches in Milton, outside of Pensacola, on March 6, 1954, which was eclipsed on Tuesday by the measurements around Pensacola.

On my way to work in southern NH this morning I saw a REAL Temperature of (-11) F.
Not a record. pretty close
I bet the snow is killing a bunch of invasive pythons.
-5 here in Mish
Not really snow here in Panama City. More like snow that is now just ice. Looks like snow, but you can’t even put a footprint in it.
Somehow I pictured something different when AOC warned me of global warming.
What about that crop report?
Make Florida safe for polar bears!
We got about an inch of that frozen crap in Wewa.
Yep, definitely global warming.
I’m just down on 2297 from you.
Iโm looking forward to way less to no ticks (and other bugs) this spring from the intense cold. Those things give me welts that last for months.
It seems that Trump healed “climate change,” when Obama was the one who promised it.
That’s awesome.
A liberal friend from NH is on vacation in NO right now.
She posted pictures on FB of snow in front of their hotel.
I replied “you need some climate change”
No reply from her. Probably will unfriend me.
I also saw a snowball fight on Bourbon Street yesterday.
“RECORDED” history. ๐๐
Friend of mine sent me a pic of the current temps in Hermitage, PA earlier this morning. It doesn’t often get to double digits negative there but -13 is just TOO DAMM COLD for me.
When a Floridian facebook user asked who sent the snow, I told him that we held a vote. If we get winter, so should you.
It’s weather socialism.
Well YHAT didn’t take long.
-13 here in our part of NH.
