FAA had to ["briefly"] divert flights because of SpaceX Starship explosion

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) told TechCrunch it had to “briefly” slow and divert a number of aircraft in the airspace near Puerto Rico, where debris was seen falling after SpaceX’s Starship exploded during a test flight Thursday.

Multiple flights could be seen entering holding patterns or completely changing course in the airspace near the area after the ship exploded on its way to space, according to data from Flightradar24. The FAA said normal airspace operations have since resumed.

Airports suffered disruptions as a result of the diversions. Miami International Airport posted a 30-minute delay warning due to the “rocket launch anomaly,” according to the FAA’s website. The Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida also cited the same reason for a short delay.

Certainly a wise cautionary move.

Total BS. It took about 5 min from breakup to ground. Flights were not allowed in the exclusion zone anyway....it’s the FAA doing their Anti-Musk thing to “punish” Trump, just like they filed a last minute bs charges a few days ago that will be dismissed next week.

Let me tell you what’s really going on here. The FAA, is once again flexing its muscle to stifle private innovation and keep the skies under its thumb.

SpaceX, a beacon of human ingenuity and entrepreneurial freedom, suffers a slight anomaly, and suddenly, flights are grounded, airspace is locked down, and chaos spreads across airports. Why? Because they want to use any excuse to tighten their grip and make sure no one dares challenge their monopolized control of the skies.

No one who posted anything above this post is a licenced pilot that much is bloody obvious.

There were NOTAMS well in advance of this test flight. Any airline or private/charter flight knew of the areas covered under the NOTAM they chose to file flight plans that crossed that area. They knew the ATC vis the FAA command could during anytime during the NOTAM period divert, cancel or exclude their movement or filed flight plan thorough those area’s.

This is a case of yeah the rocket blew up real good and showered white hot supersonic debris into the NOTAM area. It would be criminally negligent for the FAA to noh exclude every aircraft from those area’s. Some of the lighter debris could take up to half an hour to come down from 80 MILES high. So the FAA did the right thing activate the exclusion area and divert every flight path out of those area’s , if needed to alternative landing airports to stay within IFR reserve fuel requirements.

All this conspiracy crap is just that it’s rubbish. Anyone who is a licenced pilot can see the FAA did their job.
