But here’s the twist: some super-rich European banks, especially the **Rothschild Bank**, had their own sneaky plans. They didn’t care about slavery—they just wanted to divide America so they could control the money and power. They started convincing Britain and France to help the South, promising it would weaken America and keep Europe on top.
But Russia wasn’t having it. The Russian Tsar, Alexander II, hated slavery and didn’t trust the Rothschilds or their puppet governments in Europe. So, in 1863, Russia made a bold move. They sent their warships—one fleet to **New York** and another to **San Francisco**—and just parked them there. They didn’t need to fight. Just showing up sent a clear message: “If you try to mess with the Union, you’ll deal with us, too.”
The European banks freaked out. They wanted Britain and France to send armies and ships to help the South, but now they had to think twice. Nobody wanted to risk a war with Russia, especially with those fleets right there. Their whole plan fell apart.
In the end, Russia’s move stopped the Rothschild-backed Europeans from interfering, and the North got to fight its war without foreign enemies stepping in. The Russian fleet didn’t fire a shot, but just being there was enough to stop some seriously sinister plans. Pretty awesome, right?

The corrupt Northern controlled government in Washington DC was fighting to keep the hundreds of millions of dollars of Southern money flowing into the pockets of the corrupt Robber Barons of the North, while the South was fighting to get away from the corrupt government that was robbing them.

Neither did the North care about slavery. They just wanted to keep the nation together so they could control the money and power. (See Corwin Amendment, Passed by a 2/3rds majority of the Republican controlled House and Senate in March of 1861. )

Not so much. One of the most hilarious videos I have ever watched involved the doings of the Russian Fleet during the Ruso-Japanese war. The Japanese kicked their @$$ because the Russian navy was sooooo incompetent.
You, or whomever you are quoting, seems to have forgotten the strong rivalry between Russia and Great Britain. It was only 5 years since the end of the Crimean War and it was high-noon in the Great Game (see The Great Game: The Struggle for Empire in Central Asia by Peter Hopkirk. A great read!). In other words there were many reasons for Tsar Alexander other than mistrust of the Rotschilds to support the North.
In actual fact historians who have studied the affairs of the Rotschilds do not think they supported the Confederacy. Here is a description of the letters from 1861 by August Belmont (of the racecourse fame) who acted as an agent for the Rotschilds in North America.

A quote from the article: "Both types of letter express Belmont's opinions as to the conduct of the war on both sides, from a standpoint supportive of the Union. (The letters certainly repudiate any claims that the Rothschilds or Belmont himself actively supported the Confederate cause).12 Both an anti-war stance and a pro-Federal one are demonstrated. Initial letters express dismay that events have taken such a turn towards conflict: “Mad passion seems to direct the movements of the people in South Carolina and the indications are that the other Cotton states are rushing blindly towards the same infatuation.”13"
