Qatar is merely a convenient place to hold talks where the government is seen by both sides as neutral. Will the current discussions result in a peace deal? Answer: somewhere between no and not yet. There is too much distance between what each side views as an acceptable outcome, currently.

There are always well meaning outsiders attempting to start peace negotiations when there is a war. The peace negotiations are always denied by the governments until they believe that peace will get them more of what they want than continuing the war.
